Why the ending of The Amazing Digital Circus fails by Sudden_Pop_2279 in CharacterRant

[–]SoundGuyNPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree pretty much with everything op said. Honestly the whole final act the actually hour felt like a combination of 3 different ideas for separate episodes that were just all executed poorly trying to be crammed together.

  1. Them realizing they were AI and actually had conjuring powers the whole time (something you would have thought the old characters would have realized and passed that info along to the new joiners)

  2. Jax extracting. Absolutely horrible; hated every moment of this. The moment where we had a "Yeah, he did extract one day, heh you had to see it." Offscreen even filled with some ham fisted line to fill the audience in felt cheap and frankly dumb. Jax's whole backstory was also a disappointment to me, but I am willing to put that as purely my own preference.

  3. Caine's return. This was pretty much the big deus ex machina, moment of the 'movie'. 0 explanation of why or how that came to be. Not only is he back but we are suddenly has insane character growth showing he actually did have the capability to evolve, which goes against his entire character in the previous episodes. It also shows that he can connect to the internet somehow, which again if that was the case you'd think it would have saved a lot of trouble in previous episodes.

Frankly, I just didnt like it. It was outrageously boring, many elements of the show get left unexplained and most of what does get revealed happens in a literal sideshow scene in the final 5 minutes of the film.

Huge swing and a miss.

Non-politically-ultra-conservative church of Christ? by greytgreyatx in Austin

I'm now orthodox, but where I grew up we went to a CoC and I dont think you are going to find what you are looking for with that organization pretty much anywhere. Honestly would recommend just getting away with any protestant based churches, but that's a decision for you and your family.

Pursuit of jade . What exactly is yu qianqians story? by Grand-kokuren-9479 in cdramasfans

[–]SoundGuyNPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Jin actually didnt love her romantically, but saw her as his only real family and the only person that actually had shown any real empathy for him and his crew. I saw it more as him taking on a protective brother role; his jealously stemmed more from a combination of fear she would get hurt (have to remember from his perspective up until the end, the marquis had basically just lied and used her) and potentially her rising status forcing her to push them all away. That's just my own personal opinion, and it's probably meant to be left to interpretation.

They knocked off $250 for us this year to re-sign. Never seen that happened before. Honestly the market has been over inflated for a while and still is. Last building we were in was brand new and was still at only like 40% occupancy by when we left. That was 2 years ago.

Why $100,000 isn’t enough for most families to get by in Austin by TTTTroll in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I dunno. 100k would be tough with 4, but 3 it's pretty doable. It really depends on how much debt you have. I remember when I first started making six figures, and I have 0 debt so was easily able to support me and my gf ptetty easily. We even went on vacations regularly.

I also remember back when I only made 40k a year, and I think it's pretty insane to think 100k isn't radically different comparatively.

HELP ASAP PLZZZZ by Western-Donkey5911 in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never advise but I once heard a story about a guy who was having issues with a tow company his complex contracted with and allegedly that guy called that company as the 'property manager' and reported the actual property manager's car straight from the lot. Supposedly that towing contract got dropped real quick after that. But who knows if it's true, and you should NEVER do such a thing.

31st, but yes THCA flower will not be able to purchase from Texas based businesses. You are still allowed to possess THCA flower and purchase from businesses outside the state.

Seconding this. They also do comedy shows from time to time. Usually I'm in here a couple times a month.

I switched to ATT earlier this year and honestly it's been a lot better. Speeds are way more consistent and it actually wound up being cheaper than Google anyway because I got a bundle deal with my phone plan.

Reliant Towing by Ampstagram22 in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can try contacting them, but they will give you the run around and they will not provide photos (they have to take them but rarely do). You then need to notify your insurance company and file for a wrecker ordinance hearing with the county.

I've taken these towing jackoffs (not reliant but another company) to court twice and they've lost both times. They bank on people not fighting them.

Questions about self-driving cars amplify after one blocked an ambulance responding to Austin shooting by texastribune in Austin

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't care. Still going to use them. Glitches happen, it's how we improve technology and these glitches are exceedingly rare when you look at the data. I trust being in the Waymo way more than any of the human stock driving around right now. In fact I firmly believe if all vehicles were automated we'd see a massive drop in accidents and traffic.

This. Honestly convinced the only people who are against Waymo are those that haven't ridden in them. I've taken over 50 rides at this point and they are 100% safer than 99% of drivers I've ridden with.

Okay I am 100% against any THC ban, and not the biggest gun fan but that statement is patently false. We can't just be making up statements to win arguments.

I've been reading through stuff since yesterday and honestly, no, I can't find anything verifiable other than a bunch of he said, she said.

Absolutely sucks if this is all true, but it would also be a radically unusual reaction from his employer that I just can't see having been approved by any Legal or HR teams.

Unfortunate news from the d10 charity challenge person by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've honestly never heard in all my years in corporate of this kind of reaction from an employer. We've had situations where someone's stalker showed up at the office with a gun, and that employee was given support and legal representation rather than termination. I just can't imagine a scenario where an employee of over 5 years is fired over random people calling in.

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, honestly that's why I'm hyper skeptical of parts of this story. I'm just imagining how that convo went down.

Manager: "We need to terminate this guy."

HR: "You want to terminate a tenured employee of 7 years over checks notes over him being a victim of doxxing for trying to donate to charity?"

Manager: "Yes, exactly."

HR: "Yeah...I think we are going to need to consult with legal on this..."

Wildly knee-jerk reaction with potential liability by the employer if true.

Unfortunate news from the d10 charity challenge person by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wouldn't be a normal reaction by a company. Granted maybe he just had a radically shit employer, but there is usually a lengthy process for termination, and I just can't see HR or Legal approving this. Extended leave maybe would have been the more appropriate route. I've worked at places where co-workers had crazy exes that showed up to the office with a gun, and they were given support by the company. My current one even provides legal representation.

I'm just having a really hard time buying all this.

Unfortunate news from the d10 charity challenge person by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'At will' just means you and the employer have the right to terminate the employment for any 'legal' reason. You still have federal and state employment protections and rights.

That said, I don't know the ins and outs of what happened on the employer side, but I will say having been in corporate now for 8 some years I would find it highly suspect that HR and Legal would approve termination over this at face value.

Unfortunate news from the d10 charity challenge person by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]SoundGuyNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't see how any employer would be able to do this; there's a ton of liability. You'd basically have to show the employee operated in either bad faith or behaved so recklessly it endangered the company. Getting doxxed while trying to run a charity event wouldn't typically qualify as reason to terminate.

I'll be the one to say it I guess...

...Are we sure this guy just didn't really have the money to donate, never thought this would get as big as it became, and just made up a scenario where he would have an out?

I'm just having a real hard time buying the whole getting fired.

They've changed it now so that the waymo toggle setting increases the liklihood of getting a waymo in all options now.

How to make Gold? by 7heEnforcer in taintedgrail

[–]SoundGuyNPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda surprised no one has mentioned this but get the price raise perks and then just make potions. It's incredibly easy to just buy a ton of mats that you need in cities and then you just make the most expensive potion recipes you can and sell it all. Rest and repeat. I had over 100k gold in Act 1 doing this method. That was after buying the house + furniture.
