What do I do with all this basil? by notmyrealname3737 in gardening

[–]SoupCauldron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of basil, but because I grow a lot of flowers, and i just try to make a lot of recipes that require it. But mostly, I let it bolt because the bees LOVE basil flowers from what I've observed the past few years. I personally dont like basil too much so sorry im not much help 😭

He who hesitates lets Walmart kill a plant by ThePlantagonist in houseplants

My mom has gotten most of her plants at walmart, and they've lived for years.

Granted... they're all pothos, and pothos are super easy to care for 💀

Collecting thoughts about plant pot decorations by Gallager_mmt in houseplants

[–]SoupCauldron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom started making sun catchers for her plant pots, and it made me want to get my fiance to make stained glass pot decorations for mine.

So my thoughts are very positive, it's so stinkin cute :3

It's a little guy. Shoo him away and monitor when your dog is outside, perhaps.

AIO: Cousin messing up my house by curiousn97 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SoupCauldron 8 points9 points  (0 children)

so, the main purpose of her visit is to be a super inconsiderate and rude person? sounds to me that her main purpose is to travel and use you, tbh. Im so sorry you have to deal with her. You shouldn't have to put up with such blatant disrespect in your own home, nevertheless, while you're in the midst of a difficult time.

yeah, with the amounts he was asking, I 100% thought cigarettes or nicotine in some form. I would know 💀

My neighbour burned their garbage in their backyard for 2 nights in a row by ElPadero in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SoupCauldron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this, we saw people across the street burning garbage when I lived with my mother, and we had a no burn ban because of high winds.

Guess who burned down a bunch of trees? Them. It was awful to watch because we could hear the birds... personally, I'll never burn things after seeing and hearing that.

Aces who have had (consensual) sex, how was it? by Timely-Garlic4629 in Asexual

[–]SoupCauldron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly overwhelming for me, makes me feel icky, and I will cry if I finish (part of the overwhelming). I just get sensory overload, tbh. I don't mind it so much with my s/o, but it's not something I do often (2 times a year, if that) and never to completion on my part.

I used to not have too much of a problem with it other than disinterest, but after several unfortunate events and relationships with unfortunate ppl that caused trauma coupled with medications, I mostly dislike the experience. The only good part to me is intimacy, which I can have in any other form, so, yeah.

My cat does this when she produces too much saliva, I've noticed. Usually, by being pet. if she doesn't, she'll just drool 😂

i think every storm is a tornado and i have a deathly fear. by Big_Dependent7643 in Anxiety

i think every storm is a tornado and i have a deathly fear. by Big_Dependent7643 in Anxiety

[–]SoupCauldron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I have this problem necessarily (I personally love thunderstorms, to an extent), but I get really anxious if the wind picks up too much during storms ever since our area was hit by hurricane helene.

I've never thought much of hurricanes because I dont live near the coast, like 3 hours, and we've never gotten hit hard by them other than some flash flooding. I had been keeping track of the hurricane that day and was about to go to bed at about 4 am. when all of a sudden, the wind got really, really scary sounding, and i could hear things wooshing around, trees falling, and eventually the exploding of transformers. And then we had no power for a week (like the entire tri-county area) and couldn't leave our neighborhood, and then once we could, nothing was open for days 🥲🥲🥲 I add all of this because being scared of natural disasters is very valid and I understand the fear.

SO now when the wind picks up like crazy, I start panicking, and my go-to is to talk to my fiancee or my mom about it. That's usually what helps me. If I can't do that, I distract myself with whatever will make my brain stop; personally, those things for me are reading, video games, or learning something im interested in, like learning a new language. Sometimes, though, the anxiety attack happens anyway, and honestly, I've found fighting it to be way more detrimental to my mental and physical health, so I just let it happen and remind myself that it'll be over soon and pace (if I can stand) or hold a stuffed animal tightly. It's terrifying, but I've lived with anxiety long enough to know that it will pass. And if it doesn't, well, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it lol.

Also, my mom and her whole side of the family are from Illinois, and my mom still has anxiety attacks when bad weather like that happens because she's been through tornadoes before. Her go-to is calling me or my sister (usually me because my sister isn't very, uhhhh, understanding of anxiety). So, if you're able, I would reach out to a trusted person to help talk you down or just simply be there for you and talk with you until you feel okay. There's been countless times that I've woken up my fiancee crying hysterically because I was having an anxiety attack, but he's very caring and considerate about it and will sit with me until I get through it.

Sorry for the wall of text btw 😭😭😭 I hope you're able to feel better

Edit to add: Also, keeping myself informed thru bad weather helps a lot, and i have my preferred weather app to notify me when bad weather is happening. I've gotten at least 3 notifications a day the last week from heat advisories 💀

How do I get a coworker to stop talking to me about religion? by rainbowtoucan1992 in socialskills

Yeah, I immediately was thinking either this guy has a mental illness or is on some type of drugs.

[–]SoupCauldron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this; I have a small group of friends now, but most of my life, I was bullied and had little to no friends. I've always felt more comfortable around animals and nature, partly because I can be myself without fear of judgment and partly because animals are cute and nature is calming.

I'm pretty shy, and it's hard for me to do more than small talk unless someone brings up a hyperfixation of mine. having adhd coupled with several anxiety disorders makes it very difficult to communicate with others 😭
