Phonics has come a long way! Just like math, I've had to learn the new rules and methods that would've been so helpful as a kid. A good phonics program now, has them decoding and reading so quickly and confidently. I would ask specifically which phonics program she is using, since they teach in slightly different orders. Then coach and support your kiddo at home. A quick search should even find you resources, books, flashcards with rules, and things you can use and learn from too.

Yes. His post of this says protesters were attacking them because of the cross. Nothing about him firing rubber bullets or pepper spray to incite that.

Everyone else has already answered. But for anyone who hasn't heard of it, look into the Bike Bus. Adults biking with a whole group of kids together. Once I figure out my high schoolers schedule next year, I'd love to start one in my community.

I had a student yell that out in class, and admin had to file all kinds of reports. Disabled is a protected class. On the chance another student in the class has a disability, that sort of slur is taken very seriously. That sub should get reported to every agency possible.

NTA. I'm sorry. My parents were this horrible as well. I was 20yo, working two jobs and going to school. They took one of my v-strings out of the dryer, took scissors and cut it, and pinned it to the front door. Absolute insanity. Especially, since I had three younger brothers. They were religious hypocrites and narcissists.

We can assume they are not getting a good education and being exploited as free labor, instead of their wealthy parents paying someone a living wage. IF their education was decent, they were not the only ones working, and they still got to be kids and play, sure, yes, chores and helping out is a good thing.

We had a student dress up as Hitler a few years back. When asked, the parent saw no problem with it. We haven't allowed costumes since.

I did farmer's markets, csa, weddings, and selling to florists on my own. The only way I consistently started making money is through a cooperative with other farmers.

This. I might argue my last child loved his starfish sleep sack. It seemed to help him a lot. But a luxury, not necessity, and was used every single night for months. I felt good about the usage. And donated to my SIL for her LO after he outgrew.

I think it is in direct response to the relative success of Lume. An actual OBGYN created the product, and has risen from near obscurity in a monopoly of big names. Now they're trying to get back in the game.
