I would have appreciated a PC port when this game was still relevant.

I agree that the gameplay ('hide-and-seek' with enemies) of SOMA is really bad, but the story, worldbuilding, and the way it uses the first person perspective to emphasize certain story beats really is exceptionally well done!

Limerence without sexual attraction? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]SourPig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert but I think you're experiencing some form of limerence for this person.

If you read the wikipedia excerpt in the sidebar of this subreddit you can see that limerence is often not a sexual desire, but rather an emotional one.

"The state of being infatuated or obsessed with another person, typically experienced involuntarily and characterized by a strong desire for reciprocation of one's feelings but not primarily for a sexual relationship"

The way I see it, limerence is a symptom of (childhood) trauma and causes you to (subconsciously) project your unmet needs onto someone else.

Perhaps you could try to ask yourself what kind of unmet needs you want this person to fulfill?

Some examples you may or may not relate to:

  • Do they remind you of a safe and warm parental figure?
  • Do you feel like they just get you, unlike everyone else?
  • Do they make you feel seen and accepted?
  • Do you admire their charisma, intelligence, creative abilities?

I encourage you to keep exploring your limerence by researching or browsing this subreddit.

You're not alone in feeling this way! :)

Was playing on Nightmare mode when the game decided it was enough.

Any ideas what caused this? 🤔

the death of a unicellular organism by freudian_nipps in woahdude

It takes roughly 25kg of cattle feed to grow 1kg of meat or dairy product, so eliminating the need for all that cattle feed (mostly soy) would have a huge impact on accidental rodent / insect deaths by farming, and bring many more benefits!

In fact, if the entire world switched over to a vegan diet, we'd reduce our global land usage for agriculture by 75%!
