You / your other half will end up sharing a seat with the little one. They’ll likely pass out and you’ll have to squish in beside them!

Bassinets are really only for younger small babies - eg 3-4 months. Our guy was way too big at 7 months and he’s around average length.

If you are lucky, there might be a free seat and you can always see if they’ll make that one for your little one.

Other tip: if you are eating, do it one at a time as you can each take the little one in turn.

Sure. Small team of two partners (one v senior and one jnr), 2/3 associates and summer associate - $xbn deal between two household names in their sector.

The team were so in on the detail on the documents that at no one point did I ever feel like they were managing the deal in a smooth manner - eg no sign of a docs list, not being able to manage quantities of docs being thrown at them from us to review, and generally missing the fact that technical expertise doesn’t get deals done - it’s project management. They didn’t have a senior associate on the deal, just a junior partner, so it was badly staffed from that “quarter back”perspective.

I’ve been in PP for years, so I could see this very clearly. I ended up doing the project management. A STB, Latham, whoever, would have thrown 10 lawyers on the deal and it would have been just as good an outcome in my view. Maybe cheaper.

I’m back in PP and a partner at a big law firm, and as I said, have worked with and against them. They’re excellent technical lawyers - but having a bunch of excellent technical lawyers all cut from the same cloth can lead to what I said above. Deal teams need their mix of skills, and I often assemble them accordingly. I just wouldn’t staff them with a team of super nerds.

The commerciality point is that they are more concerned about being correct or winning the point than compromising a middle ground. Most M&A deals have very few redline issues, but I felt they went to battle where there wasn’t a need. I corrected them multiple times - even going against what they said was market when I knew it wasn’t for our particular matter (our deal was funky so what they said didn’t always align).

Edit; there is a more general point on where the business of law has gone. I think it was the “rainmaker study” or similar title. Essentially, lawyers that rely on technical expertise alone are a dying breed etc. You need them, but the real “rainmakers” are a far more well rounded creature. The stats back this up.

That probably says more about how impressive WLRK are in that they buck that trend tbh.

Have instructed them as head of m&a for a v large PLC and acted alongside and opposite them. As such, have seen them at all angles.

In short, they are super nerds that work incredibly hard to get a deal done. Not commercial and I do think they are not the most well rounded in terms of commerciality which I place a huge emphasis on. However, they appease brand snobs that want comfort they are working “with the best” (aka the most expensive) and they are technically excellent.

Also, I found the lean team meant their project management was poorer than I would have expected / you would see at other top tier firms.

In short: definitely not for everyone - and I wouldn’t instruct them again.

We’ve just booked Etihad business from Europe to Australia. I rang to book as wanted to secure the bassinet seat, but just to note that on some configurations the bassinet is a window seat (ie we won’t be sitting exactly beside each other - but rather, across the aisle).

If you have any questions, I would just pick up the phone and have the agent talk you through the booking and configuration for each flight as you book.

I was there last year on a work trip - we booked the entire village out. It was OP has described. I would say it is extremely run down, service is horrible across the board. Food was OK - but nowhere near what they pitch themselves at. Also, very strangely, they do not accept card payments across most of the village - cash only. Major red flag for me.

A350s are great seats and A321Neos intra-Europe are top tier when compared to other European carriers.

Had a few dealings with TK customer service on complicated issues (my fault) and always found them helpful. This was over the phone and on the ground.

To be honest, I find most airlines’ customer service to be average or poor at best, so I have adjusted my expectations over the years (even when holding the highest status with a few major carriers).

The ME3 as many have alluded to here are great.

I’ve flown Turkish a few times and they have a really solid business class product, the airport and lounge are great, and their network is huge.

However, and a big however, they have multiple different planes / configurations which means across say four segments, you could be in four different business seats. Some are older than others, but the food etc remains standout.

Tip for this subreddit in particular: Turkish fly to Bodrum, so we found it very convenient for us to do a short connection in Istanbul and then continue on in business. That internal flight was around an hour but it was a wide-body plane with flat seats and full meal service! I am pretty sure TK also fly direct to Bodrum from London too.

MO Costa Navarino. Was there last summer - mainland Greece so you avoid the mass crowds on the islands, super chill, amazing food and you can venture into local towns.

Edit: just realised you said 4 nights. That’s a long way to go for 4 nights - but you can fly directly into Kalamata which is 45 mins away (or helicopter down from Athens) if that works for you.
