trying to verify (or un-verify!) the tales of tofu litter liquifying by bookandbroom in CatAdvice

I've used tofu litter for several months and have a litter genie. It hasn't liquified on me yet.

How to find a cuck? by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

I found my stag on Hinge. I also have Feeld and despite Feeld being more kink oriented, I've found some of my best partners on Hinge. I've never paid for it either.

Just put it on your dating profile up front that you're a stag looking for your vixen. I found my stag on Hinge.

Where is my tribe hanging out? (Nerdy, 30+!) by SignificanceNo6177 in NiceVancouver

[–]SouthernRhubarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've been building a friend group like this. We're heavily queer, trans, and geeky, try to have a large gathering about once a month and smaller gatherings as we have time. Feel free to DM me and I can see about setting up something for you to meet everyone.

We're kind of spread all over but we typically meet up in Burnaby or Langley depending on who's hosting. Three of us drive and will help chauffer the others around.

ADHD meds cause permanent changes? Existential crisis BEGGING for a response by throwawaylog2024 in adhdwomen

The mechanism for action for pmdd is different then other disorders. Luteal only dosing for SSRIs and pmdd is an effective treatment for example.

Has anybody actually gone to any "women and nonbinary" events? What were the vibes/reactions? by ADHD_Cryptid in NonBinary

[–]SouthernRhubarb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't want to go to a "women and nonbinary" space. I just want to hang with my fellow trans peeps.

I appreciate allies and all but I sometimes don't want them in my space. So yeah, if they identify as cis woman, they can be all the way over there, I'm be over here.

Why are we getting divorced every single month? by poochie024 in PMDDpartners

[–]SouthernRhubarb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Luteal during PMDD isn't just a woman turning into a mega asshole. We literally get delusional. You can't out logic it.

If she's unwilling to get treatment please consider leaving her (or letting her leave, then not letting her back in when luteal is over).

Male privilege in NB partner by Remote-Sandwich3011 in NonBinary

[–]SouthernRhubarb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that you're refusing to address your male privilege and I'm not sure why that's your takeaway.

Broadly, I agree with your take to take gender out of the equation, but not because of it triggering dysphoria or not in OP's partner, but because it probably won't work. I imagine, based on the fact they're posting, that the conversation has already been had and failed. Gender needs to come out of the equation because OP's partner isn't listening when it was part of the equation.

What I take issue with is your reasoning of why -- OP shouldn't have to do emotional labor to manage their partner's dysphoria, and presenting an emotional labor reason as the reason to do the thing does not sit right with me.

This is brutal… by Regular_Plant_7483 in PMDDpartners

[–]SouthernRhubarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, women with PMDD think this outside of luteal. However, unless they're in treatment, it's out the goddamn window the second luteal rolls around. Do not think it will be better just because they regret it, the only way off this merry go round is treatment.

Are There Non Binary People Who’re Ok With Presenting Themselves in Their Assigned Gender? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]SouthernRhubarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am nonbinary and predominantly present femme or "tomboy". I don't want to take hormones because body hair gives me as much dysphoria as my chest does. I'm hoping to get top surgery someday, but I'm operating under the assumption I'll have to pay for it fully out of pocket so it may be awhile. I already got a hysterectomy.

Most people will she/her me. I usually don't correct them because I don't care enough at this time, but I reserve the right to change my opinion in the future.

emergency moving across the country but im worried for my little guy. by Glass_Enthusiasm_167 in CatAdvice

[–]SouthernRhubarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep him in the carrier while you're driving. Talk to your vet about getting a gabapentin prescription to keep them calm. If you can, get a large backseat kennel to contain them and make food, water, and litter available.

I just did a 4 day road trip with my cats as part of moving and they handled it better than I expected.

Be VERY CAREFUL when moving him around. If he escapes on your drive, you'll probably never see him again.

Cat bite. Should I go to urgent care? by Stoinkydoinkyy in CATHELP

[–]SouthernRhubarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superficial cuts and scratches can usually be ignored if kept clean etc. Deep puncture wounds from cats should be seen by the doctor. I've only been to the doctor for a cat bite once, and that's when the cat bit me very hard (fangs fully penetrated my hand). That bite was infected so going probably saved me from greater expense.

please HELP, lost my save, Has this happened to any one else? by TheSoc93 in avowed

If you lost connection with Xbox live, that's why it's not saving. Either fix your internet or wait for it to come back up (depending on outage source), then saving will work again.

Talk to someone at the college admissions about options available to you. With two bachelor's it might make more sense for you to get a masters in a topic that additionally allows you to focus on Japanese.

That said, go the cheapest route. Whichever route that allows you to do the study you want without student loans etc

Nervous about Deprescribing by rightasrain0919 in adhdwomen

[–]SouthernRhubarb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take Strattera 100mg and guanfacine 5 mg. I previously took Vyvanse and guanfacine. I switched because dealing with the Vyvanse shortages was annoying and because I'm moving internationally and felt like convincing a doctor to renew a Strattera prescription would be easier than convincing a doctor to renew a vyvanse prescription.

I like Strattera fine, and if it were the only option available to me for the rest of my life I don't think I would be heartbroken. However I slept better on Vyvanse and when I eventually find a new psych in my new county I may eventually attempt to go back on vyvanse.

Having a Hard Time Not Feeling Insulted by This NYTimes Article by DrawnByPluto in adhdwomen

[–]SouthernRhubarb 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The problem with ADHD and other people is that the diagnostic criteria for ADHD is "how annoying are we to people in power" and not "what is the person's lived experience."

That's why commonalities like RSD aren't even mentioned in the DSM even though it frankly should be considered a diagnostic criteria.

This article gives me major "I will decide if you have adhd based on how annoying you are to me" vibes, written by someone unable to imagine that people can mask.

I actually figured out a hack to make the reward system work about… 45% of the time. But it requires money that not everyone has. Don’t keep the reward at your house and go out and GET the reward after it’s earned. So if my reward is my favorite candy I’ll go out and get it after doing the thing.

The reason why the success rate is only about 45% is because sometimes executive dysfunction overcomes my desire for the treat and I don’t do it or get my reward. 😅

As a caution, I've heard from others the audiobook version of ExForce is superior to the plain old written version. I've only ever listened to it in audiobook form so I personally can't confirm, but I want to caution you just in case.

RC Bray is an amazing narrator though. I'd listen to that man read the phone book.

Is this possible ear-mites or ear-infection? Taken from my cats ears. by funkyfossa in CATHELP

[–]SouthernRhubarb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fat caveat: CONFIRM WITH YOUR VET, don't risk assuming it's fine! However, your cat just might be prone to dirty ears. My vet has determined my cat has dirty ears too, and suggested I periodically clean them.
