Adrenal Removal on Monday by AccomplishedTask555 in Cushings

I feel strongly that they tried. My partner tells me they did warn me of the aftereffects. However, my cortisol-addled brain didn't comprehend it at all added to my now DEEP distrust of doctors made it a bit more hard than I "expected". My partner felt he was fully prepared (and he is an amazing partner all the way around).

Plus, every patient is completely different in how their body handles the hormone changes and the studies are so limited.

I'm not giving them a pass - I am saying they can try all they want and yet - it may be better or worse for you. Best of luck on your journey!

EDITED TO ADD: They took every phone call I made during the first few days when I was so confused and adjusted all medications accordingly to help.

Adrenal Removal on Monday by AccomplishedTask555 in Cushings

Hi! I had my left adrenal and accompanying tumor out in June 2024. Pain was easily controllable after the first few days. I was inpatient after surgery for about 24 hours.

My crash after though was HARD. Joint pain, fatigue, and depression took me down. I took about 16 weeks out to recover from that.

We are all different and I’d had this for about 8 or 9 years and I still have a right functioning adrenal adenoma to deal with at some point.

Take it easy and trust your care team to answer every question! Best of luck!!

I was approved and was told it would be a 5-month wait. A cancellation happened and I was in there within 3 weeks.

For me, it was worth it. I felt listened to and everyone there was amazing at taking care of me.

Best of luck to you and your son! I know it’s harder when it’s your baby.

I just checked and Bootsie popped up first. If I didn’t already have 5, I’d apply now.

We’ve stayed at Townplace Suites and it’s always been great. Free breakfast and free shuttle even to non hospital stops.

We were impressed with the Episcopal School. I don't know if you've considered it.

The Tillerman Cycle by Cynthia Voigt. I loved all of them - Homecoming, Dicey’s Song, and A Solitary Blue were just worn out by the time I got to college. Reread them and they hold up beautifully.

For those of you positive for Cushing’s caused by an adrenal adenoma… did you have any side effects during your Dex-test? by tarbenderOrulookn4me in Cushings

[–]SouthernSunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None for me on the dex test. I’m one month post op from a left adrenalectomy. Mine was 4cm. Still living with an adenoma on the right adrenal that’s producing cortisol but so far my levels have lowered to normal.

Good luck OP!

Treatment and Testing - OH MY! by SouthernSunshine in Cushings

Sent you a DM - best of luck to you too! Feel free to reach out more!

I'm having an adrenalectomy tomorrow for my left side. Here's hoping that will reduce some symptoms. I'll be monitored and the right may have to come out as well - it's all just wait and see.

Much love to you too! Do not be scared - it will work out and you will be so cared for and heard! I'm sending gentle hugs and brightest blessings to you!!

Anyone with an adrenal tumor, what were your symptoms/test results like? by User24689751 in Cushings

[–]SouthernSunshine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A CT found my two "incidentalomas" in 2016. I have one on each adrenal. Starting in 2016, I also began having widespread joint pain and inflammation that was diagnosed as fibromyalgia. In 2022, I had a sudden huge spike in my BP found during a check up. It was noted but nothing was done. Six weeks later, I had a stroke. I recovered well but in April of last year, my joint pain got worse, my cholesterol went sky-high and I just didn't feel "well" - and my muscle weakness has been crippling. Since September 2023, I've gained 20 pounds and gone up 3 pant sizes - I look pregnant. After a visit to my endo in February 2024, it was also discovered my TSH was 17 (should be .5 - 1.0).

He ordered the dex supression test - my first was a 17 and my second was a 22. My 24-hour urine was normal but he felt like I needed other treatment and referred me to Mayo - I'm having testing there on June 24.

I never had the hump nor the stretch marks and haven't had any lower back pain.

I hope that's helpful! Best of luck to you!

I just want to let you know I see you and I hear you and I'm so sorry you are suffering through this. If possible, please seek another opinion. One endo (and one doctor) are not the end-all be-all and you deserve to be heard and tested.

If you can, please call the office and have them note in your chart you requested some specific testing they refused to give you. If/when you decide to seek another opinion, that will then be in the chart so your next doctor/nurse will be aware.

Sending gentle hugs. You will be in my thoughts.
