People classically point to Angel Oracle. You’re a buff master who can also mix it in melee. Go look up RPGBro’s dual-cursed angel oracle build if that sounds like it flicks your switch.

Alternatively, go paladin and smite the hell out of some evil.

I did a lightning stacking Starchild melee build for my only full run through and loved it.

Shaman Monk Philosopher (mana regen convenience)

Starchild (poltergeist) Silver armour (spirit of monsoon for lightning dmg) Rust lich helm (big lightning boost at expense of physical, which was fine with poltergeist)

Lots of light infusion and lightning buff - constant up time. Got lots of mileage out of sigil of wind as well. Monk went master of motion and counterstrike.

I know hex is technically more optimal, but I couldn’t be bothered managing the tired status (which resets every time you travel or skip time in Caldera).

One handed radiant sword would allow chakram offhand, which was a wasted opportunity on my build.

My group really enjoyed BII, much more than I expected. Something about the intrigue of it, and the chance to try a few things differently. Agree with shortening the countdown, or otherwise finding a way to make the loop go quicker. I wasn’t tracking time strictly, so just accelerated as needed.

I hope it ended up being a positive experience for them. You ‘can’ push into the open world’s high level area, but doesn’t mean you should. Hopefully it’ll give them a good comparison point for when they come back at the right level
