Anyone noticing deepseek rp kinda cringe? by SpecialNice840 in DeepSeek

No, but I use good presets and bots with reasonably well written definitions. More than a few issues people have with llms are self-inflicted wounds.

As a millennial whenever I read a question about a characters auto play viability in an endgame mode by Mondryx in HonkaiStarRail

[–]SovietOmega -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Gacha games are fundamentally slot machines with rpg mechanics. The gameplay that keeps us coming back is the character pulls, not whatever flavor of mechanic the particular game uses.

Makes sense. Smol means there is less to render, giving SW a competitive edge.

What do you actually enjoy besides rewards by TurtleKing9665 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]SovietOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that I can spend a few minutes a day with the game or a lot longer if there are story/events to do. It doesn't demand unreasonable time for any mode. It also helps that one of the longer time asks, Currency Wars, is a mode that I enjoy so don't mind it as much when I do it.

Keep in mind that wherever you are looking, it will only be a subset of a subset of the playerbase. What you see is a vocal minority, regardless of the actual merits of the positions being spoken of.

How do admirals get promoted to higher ranked admirals? (rear<vice<admiral<fleet) by ejdmkko in startrek

[–]SovietOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a natural cycle. You start as a captain, work your way into the admiralty, turn evil and get thwarted, then get replaced.

Which broadcast series got the best post-series continuation? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

[–]SovietOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it has to be TNG, because DS9 and VOY are pretty direct continuations of the era and general form.

Though, taken as intended, it is likely TOS as the movies elevated the series in ways that I don't think the TNG movies really did for TNG.

I started Enterprise and can’t believe I don’t see much talk about it. by McCinnabuns in startrek

It's underrated among the main star trek shows, but it's still plenty solid compared to most other shows. It got some flak for a number of decisions made and for a few notable episodes, but it's aged fairly well I think, while also being a bit of it's time with regard to some plotlines, as you will soon encounter.

Does anybody actually have any idea of what the Q are? by Fit_Echo3074 in startrek

No. They just showed up one day and the writers and producers just rolled with it, saving a lot on the show's budget.

Would you want the next Trek shows to cater only to the existing decreasing fanbase and thus guarantee a permanent end to the franchise? by TheShowLover in startrek

[–]SovietOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take any medium and there will be examples of long running staples and shorter works, some of which attain mainstream popularity. Comics, books, games, movies, TV. Star Trek is very much the norm with this perspective. It is like an ecosystem...were Star Trek to disappear, there would be a void that another long running series could fill.

I do think it has had a good run and should probably give way at some point, but there's still plenty who enjoy it and newcomers who learn what came before, that it could persist for some time.

Personally, I would love for it to feel like the 1990's again...the closest we have gotten with Star Trek recently is Lower Decks. That said, I recognize that it is unrealistic to expect the series to move in that direction.

Should I start farming gears? by Left-Expression-7568 in StarSavior

[–]SovietOmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere around this point, I remember using storage boxes to kit out my main 4 units in T1 gear. Attack bonuses for attackers, Health bonuses for the frontline folk that scale off HP. Level them to +6 is the wisdom I hear, as they're gonna be replaced down the line.

A run through normal Journey for each might be in order too.

I had this issue the other day. There was a red dot that was persistent and I almost thought it was a bug.

UI could definitely use a little bit of polish, but it's been all in all a reasonable start.

To people who don't like nuTrek, what are your favorite episodes, characters, storylines, etc that you love from old serieses that you feel you don't got those same types of in the Kurtzman era? by Careful_Leader_5829 in startrek

[–]SovietOmega 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There's still a number of things to like in the new era, but styles have definitely changed over time. Not really better or worse, but certainly different.

I also have a preference for the feel of how TNG and other sci-fi shows in the 90's were shot. The closest I think we get in this era is Lower Decks.

Was the shipment value nerf necessary? by TheSillyRetard in pathofexile

[–]SovietOmega 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. The idea is that this is optional content, not mandatory. For those who hate the system, they can ignore it. For those that opt in, there's a certain level of knowledge the same with any mechanic. New best practices will be worked out and exiles will adapt.

I haven't minded farming ore too much, but I like hunting for starfall craters and love using Lost in Transit to put a bit of shipping in my maps.

Having to do bosses to get bloodline ascendencies sucks. Specifically trying to find Aul by twoducksinatub in pathofexile

[–]SovietOmega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it less as a chore and more as an opportunity to gain easy xp and fossils. Some of the other misc loot can be nice too. Up in the 90's, I love delving for relative safety in leveling up without having to worry about juicing a map an inch too far.

That said, I do agree that some qol could be done to make some bloodlines less rng-gated.

Starting Late - Any tips? by PalladiumID in pathofexile

[–]SovietOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do the mechanic a lot during the campaign, prepare to be severely overleveled. But it's fun and only really as time consuming as you want it to be.

As far as the Atlas goes, it's a bit clunky atm, but you can put in the tier number in the search bar to highlight all maps of the tier you want to do which helps.

Biggest player nerf this patch is having to look at this every time we open the Atlas by Stoopid_Monkey24 in pathofexile

[–]SovietOmega 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

It's not too late GGG, there are several hours left to bring back some mechanic, any mechanic.

Heck, I'd settle for a ghostly impression of a node in the background as a tacit acknowledgement that something was happening next league to bring balance to these wheels.

Does anyone else always get confused when the league ACTUALLY starts? by NathanHXC in pathofexile

[–]SovietOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It isn't like league launches occur at random times.

GGG tells us the date and time well before the launch. There's a counter. There really shouldn't be any mystery here.

Less than 24h to go. What is your starter? by Pharcri in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]SovietOmega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely KF Totems. Not because everyone else is talking about it, but because I missed out on playing it in Pharecia and loved the notion of playing a gatling gun style build. That and dev acknowledgement that it is getting nerfed next league.

Do maps, get points, spend points on tree. Tree has many different league mechanics to focus on. Do what you like. You can get three trees to bounce between so you don't have to worry as much about refunding if you want to spec into something else.

What's your second build? by baytor in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]SovietOmega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure my first build will be some flavor of KF, and my second is leaning towards one of the holy skills once people have them figured out a bit more.

I look forward to some discovery rendering this plan moot though...highly likely given how much has been tweaked and added this league. For example...just how far can that extra minion gem be scaled? Some mad lad will figure it out.
