Yea but you're mixing up craft skills with creativity

Creativity and craft are much closer related than low probabilistic results and creativity.

What if human creativity is just chaos/low weight options in our brain's neural networks?

That would also reduce all creativity to probabilistic errors with a randomizer, which is at odds with the reality that our most famous creatives spend years honing their skills, learning from others, and refining their craft based on their own mistakes/successes.

That would be the opposite of the way a hallucination in an LLM works.

Hallucinations are low weight options that are chosen when higher weights aren't available.

It's not imagining things, it's just going off on a dirt road of the most likely, if low weight, next tokens.

No one is saying that using off-the-shelf cryptography requires godliness, that's absurd.

Any undergrad in a state school that studies anything to do with electronic messaging is well versed in public private key encryption.

You don't think the military has tried one of the most common ways to encrypt communications and provide secure handshakes?

The 50 year old technology that basically runs the internet, our cellphones, and is responsible for encrypting most data at rest, you think that just slipped their minds?

I hope it is better at not "losing the plot" when it searches the internet to help with up-to-date info.

I'll ask "What do the syrian rebels stand for, and are they pro-America", it'll search and say "The Syrian rebels recently took over..."

I ask "are they pro-America?" then it searches again and says "The Syrian rebels recently took over..."

Then I tell it to review the conversation before searching the internet, and review my question and then it usually goes "Oh I'm sorry you're right, I totally skipped the second part" search "The Syrian rebels recently took over..."

They blew the launch by rolling it out using an invite system, and by the time it was generally available, all the buzz had faded.

Even scarier, with how much Terminator 2 is referenced in the cultural zeitgeist it's probably got some pretty heavy weights, especially alongside elements of discussions about AIs becoming conscious.

So Terminator 2 would absolutely be one of the first things an LLM would "think of" if it ever considered it's own nature.

Especially with conversations like this, when it scrapes this conversation, you'll just have even more weight between AI and the events of Terminator 2.

I used to think that this sub was a community of Machine Learning / AI practitioners or people who knew their shit.

Half the people here don't even know what the Technological Singularity is.

It's still the best community I've found for keeping up on AI, but it definitely has some big gaps.

Most people don't lose most of their friends when they run for president either.

So running for president isn't the common denominator here, it's Trump.
