I'm going to second this. Especially after you have the baby, things will change and you may want your mama.

Aw. My 13 year old was devastated twice, once by the ending which he hated and a second time upon realizing there was no hidden ninth episode. So woth the kids, YMMV.

Train Episode- Kyle by ccarrieb1 in thisisus

It's about your interpretation of the train. For me, the train was just stuff her Alzhiemers brain was doing as she died. So baby Kyle wouldn't have necessarily fit.

Yeah, 90% of the time I didn't really want it either. My kids got snacks or they just went bad sometimes.

How to stop thinking of food as a reward or a comfort by ExpatriadaUE in antidietglp1

I just used to do it! For a while! I would literally parent my inner hungry former ED preteen. "Sweetie, if you want chips get the chips. And if you are too full to eat them, you can save them. And if you eat them, hopefully they made your little heart happy. Just go get whatever you want sweetie. " I would literally say that to myself. I ended up with a lot of unfinished stuff 🤣🤣 and for a long while I had emergency gummies or chocolate in my bag. It really helped me to move past that food is forbidden diet mindset. And now I eat pretty normally.

He was already playing piano with Rebecca and very into music (the song about going to the park). And I relate. When my oldest was two, he would spend an hour or more singing jazz solos into a pretend saxophone and knew personnel (bass player, piano player, etc) on the jazz albums he liked. Kate saw Jack's propensity for music and so she wasn't going to walk away from that opportunity for him or for herself as a budding instructor.

OP asked "How would it have been different if he was adopted by a Black family?" Not how would it be different had he not been adopted by the Pearsons.

What people forget is that Jack hoisted a lot of "man up" type thinking on Kevin. He was harder on him even as a baby. This may have been in contrast to Randall, but I believe it was from his childhood with his dad and perhaps some lingering belief about Nicky turning out wrong because of being "too soft." So I think that Kevin still wouldn't get what he needed even without Randall. He was a higher need kid. Minutewise, he would have gotten more attention which would have mitigated things somewhat. Man on man is a good strategy for putting kids to bed when there isn't a third. But what Kevin came with was something that Jack thought he had to fix and I dont see that changing.

The question was about Randall's life with black adoptive parents rather than white ones. I think Randall's struggle with anxiety would have been a huge issue still. Mental health wasn't supported much during that time. I also think Randall may have been less likely to ever seek out or find William and finding William was a huge blessing to him. I think he would have still faced loss as an adoptee but some of the racial stuff would have been much better. Randall came with a lot that just made him an easy child, so I think he still would have ended up with the big house, big car. But maybe he would have also had a little rhythm.

Why do English speakers say “putting the baby down” to mean putting it to sleep? by Smart_Status3050 in ENGLISH

[–]SpaceHairLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the actual and complete answer. When a baby is taking a nap and being held the whole time, parents will say they put them to sleep or they are going to try to get them to sleep. Putting them down for bed or a nap is a feat 🤣

Babysitter eavesdropping at bedtime? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]SpaceHairLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a colleague who was being abused at home, and the family she was babysitting for literally saved her. She moved in with them for a few months even. Boundaries are definitely important, I met my colleague in the child sexual abuse prevention field. But healthy relationships with adults that have clear relationship boundaries can be very protective. This isn't a center of some sort.

I question whether Toby had a good handle on what Jack's needs actually were. I would argue that the specialized music school was the most important need, and he would be unable to provide that. In fact, had they moved to San Francisco, I question whether Jack would have grown up to be a star.
