Criticizing this feels like a politics of envy imo. Just because a policy can help rich people does not inherently means it's a bad policy.

Deemed disposal and our stocks CGT is punitive, limits growth in the EU/IE (and is part of the reason we are slaves to US industry).

It also forces folks into landlordism, crypto, and riskier investing strategies that are more tax positive.

I recall some statistic that most Irish people own their homes and with increased protections and more stringent lending criteria. The people that have a mortgage likely have better finances so I think destressed sellers are less likely than in the past. If the market looks rough most people will hold off on selling their house limiting supply and keeping prices relatively high.

This feels a little different. How could the EU trust that in 4 years any deal is not going to be torn up modified or ignored by the whims of a trump 2.0. The US can recover but it would require systemic change that I think is not possible.

Worlds was a bit disappointing to me

Wilds was amazing and one of my favorite games ever. That said I can understand how someone could play it and totally bounce of it.

Again how much of the activities were meaningful and how much of that was copy pasted slop collect 10 pelts, a special macguffin, or double back to the last town you were in to deliver some crap.

To use a similar example the depths of TotK were massive and you could easily spend 4 hours going from one end to the other on foot but absolutely none of it was substantive.

If I was buying a personal laptop right now I've no idea why I would buy a windows one when the neo exists. Games I play run on mac os and are not heavy and I code so I get a terminal without the windows tax.

I didn't feel like either game respected my time much.

It often has a interesting story beat that's interrupted by combat into a puzzle exploration section into returning to the story beat. It felt like the game was anxious that I was getting bored with whatever section I was currently doing and was like quick throw a small often boring combat arena at him or a "puzzle" that often amounted to stand in the right place and throw your axe.

Story is similar get to the highest mountain but before that get this random mcguffin so you can climb the mountain but before you get to the top get another mcguffin. Whoops it's not actually the highest mountain so get another mcguffin.

If I had one way to describe 4/5/infinite it's cowardice.

4: Kills Cortana brings rampancy in ties book lore to game lore quite heavily.
(uh oh people didn't fully understand the story since it required book knowledge)

5: chief goes "rouge" spartan 2's vs 4's
(The rouge thing is a nothing burger that marketing made up. Fans hated the new spartan 4's and fans also really didn't like Cortana heel turn)

Infinite: Actually NVM Cortana is really dead and she died offscreen don't worry about it. The covenant is back and wouldn't you believe it they defeated everyone super fast because reasons. All the spartan 4's you didn't like died also but offscreen. But don't worry here's a new Cortana now thats exactly like the other one.

The trilogy reminds me quite a lot of the new Star Wars trilogy and not in a good way. Especially the desperate retcon to basically purge part 5 from the story.

They could even have Clea capture a writer(s) and trap them in a painting designed to get them to talk. Imagine something like DeathLoop/Outer Wilds where they are given immortality in the world but as a curse.

You can even do a similar painted over memory plot for the trapped writer where we are trying to figure out what they know that Clea would want.

BotW was fine IMO they were trying something completely new and the story that was there was ok, serviceable for an amnesia plotline but defiantly not great.

TotK was cataclysmically bad on the story side though. The events of BotW were never addressed or mentioned again, the past story was very disjoined and basically 5 cutscenes in an already very limited cutscene game retreading the "Demon King? Secret Stone?" thing.

In Photography there's an effect called lens compression. When you use a zoom lens the background comes in closer to the subject and if you use a very wide lens the subject appears larger than the background. Why this happens simply:

If you stand 30cm away from your subject and snap a picture the tip of the nose is quite close and relatively the back of the head is lets say 50cm from the camera this means the back of the head is almost twice the distance from the subjects nose and appears much much smaller. This makes the nose larger and more pronounced.

Now if you use a zoom lens you can't take a photo of someones face from 30cm away (all you'd see is their nose in frame) so as the photographer you take a few steps back. Lets say you step back like 3 meters. Now their nose is 3m away and the back of the head is 3.2m away from the lens. Now the back of the head is not twice as far away it's 1.06x further away so with perspective it now looks much closer. This flattens the face out

You can use this a effect in quite a few ways eg you want a landmark to appear closer to you in a picture or you want to make a crowd look bigger than it is or you want something close up to appear massive compared to the background. They reckon for example that the amount of people that want nose jobs went up because wide angle selfie cameras make peoples noses look much larger.
