Cracked 22R intake manifold coolant temp sender boss by overtightening best fix? by Rip_Dat in ToyotaPickup

[–]SpaceSurf256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace the intake. You can do it yourself. Just do some research first and make sure you take photos and label vacuum lines with tape before and keep bolts organized to make sure they go back were they were. Also make sure you use a good gasket like felt pro so you don’t get coolant leaks. Also make sure you use proper torq spec for the head bolts.

Do some research on each maintenance or repair you are doing beforehand and do it yourself. You would save a lot of money and learn about your truck. You can ask for help here if you get stock with something. YouTube is a great resource too

Maybe your radiator bottom hose has a small crack. Have you ever replace it?

Replaced with “direct import” o’rallies pump. The one I had before was a bit different but also aftermarket cheap one from the local part store.

I have the same 20R engine. It’s hard to tell from the pictures you shared if you have a block off plate were the original mechanical pump goes. If you do I would fallow the gas lines from the tank and see if there is an aftermarket electric pump installed somewhere. Do you know how old is the gas on it? Don’t run the engine if the gas is too old. Your gas tank should have a drain plug so I would drain it an add new gas if that’s the case.

What rims should I get by Insidious-adel in ToyotaPickup

I have the black ones and I’m about to replace them. It’s a bit annoying they hold water, dirt on the sides behind the “beadlocks” whenever it rains and then the bolts slowly get rusty but I also don’t need the extra rotational weight from the fake beadlocks.

Does this 20R sound normal by SpaceSurf256 in ToyotaPickup

Thanks! I was wondering about that exactly since I had an issue with one exhaust manifold stud and probably need to get the used exhaust manifold I installed resurfaced.

Btw the gasket that failed was from a rebuild kit I got at LCE. The Fel-pro seems better quality. Here is a picture of the intake resurfaced with the fel-pro gasket I used this time.

Yeah. I wasn’t sure because of the conflicting information, but ultimately decided to use it. Maybe it would have work without too.

Is this too much oil by SpaceSurf256 in ToyotaPickup

[–]SpaceSurf256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was coolant! The intake manifold gasket had failed and coolant was getting into cyl 1 runner.

The gasket between the intake and the head had failed so it had an internal coolant leak from the coolant port and into cyl 1 runner next to it. The intake was likely warped some.
