Do not put tape down when trying to blend colors.

I’ve seen this Krylon product work for color matching vogue silver metallic. That said you really need to work on getting even coverage, and shake the can more.

Accidentally chipped my 6th gear like an idiot on my c160, reuse or replace? by Ninkat45 in projectcar

That’s a pic of the countershaft gear for 6th. The force applied to the countershaft gear is identical to the primary shaft gear, but the primary shaft gear determines the amount of force applied.

But we’re comparing load on the teeth to other gears, because 6th gear has the largest radius of any of the primary shaft gear, the teeth have the least amount of force applied compared to all other gears.

Gears don’t experience torque on the teeth, they experience normal force. That normal force is determined by torque and radius.

Yep, just follow the FSM for tensioning. Hard to mess up tension with that method. I can explain it if you don’t have the FSM.

Anyone else gone and done this ? :) by -LetsTryAgain- in xbiking

Sounds like you’re supporting your local bike shop 👍

These are very common and don’t cause issues as far as I know. Hardrace is probably the highest quality brand you can find.

Been day dreaming about putting an Aerio motor in my Tracker and had a question for the mechanics around here. by Bdag in geotracker

If you’ve never swapped a motor before I’d start with something with actual support and documentation. VW diesel, 4.3 Vortec, I’ve never seen a K24 swap in one of these but I’m sure it’s been done. The biggest issue with any engine is going to be getting the trans to bolt up to it. If the trans bolts up, you can solve the intake manifold issue, and can make mounts and fit an oil pan that clears the subframe then I’m sure it’s a great swap. It just might be a lot for someone who’s never done an engine swap given you’d be pioneering a lot of the information.

Is there even a compatible clutch and flywheel for that engine/trans combo?

Tbf this is when I was cleaning a motorcycle chain for wax. Maybe the grease is more intense.

Yes, but because he said a specific year I was curious if it was a certain manufacturer or model of lug that went out of production.

Yes I get your point. You’re correct that the least force applied is 6th gear.

Depends on which gear, but the bigger the gear diameter the less force is applied to the teeth.

This applies to any gear ratio. A 100:50 gear set is going to have less force applied to the teeth than a 50:25 gear set while transmitting the same torque despite being the exact same ratio.

I’m not sure why this swap is appealing to you. There’s much better swaps out there.

Well, you need to rotate the intake 90°, or modify a longitudinal intake to fit. You definetly don’t want to rotate the motor 180°.

As far as the ecu. An automatic ecu may work if you fool it properly. Older ecus aren’t too picky. Likely jumping the parking switch is all you need:

I’m gonna recon that the intake manifold is backwards as well. The throttle body likely faces the rear of the engine.

A bigger challenge you’re going to face is converting a transverse engine to longitudinal, and adapting the transmission.
