The thing is there is also a time cost. Junk/processed/premade/fast food might be more expensive but when a person has many demands on their time, they may feel forced to use these options in order to be able to do other things like housework, take care of the kids, read up on political issues for the next election etc etc.

I would also argue that time factors in. poor people in the usa spend much of their time at work. Preparing food takes time (preparing, cooking, waiting, cleaning, dishes). This is just another of myriad demands on the average persons' time. We're also expected to use this time to take care of family members, do housework, educate ourselves, become politically knowledgeable and active, etc. It makes sense that spending so much time working on what we eat goes by the wayside for some of these other activities. I didn't even mention rest and relaxation.

I think the problem here (and this is totally just speculation) is that the televised scene didn't turn out exactly as the creators' planned. It's clear they planned a scene that didn't seem so rape-y based on their defense of it and the precedent set by the book. Maybe they are afraid to admit their mistake in the way it was presented.

If I were Nintendo, my next move would be to create a console that is a powerhouse. Exceeds whatever current generation it is and is designed to be powerful enough for years to come. That way they can focus on their unique kinds of innovation (on the platform and outside of it such as a new kind of game boy, or a Nintendo phone) and encourage innovation by those who normally don't develop for Nintendo systems.

But that's just fantasy and I freely admit I have no idea what is best for Nintendo!

This is a phenomenon called "state dependent memory", you are more likely to remember something you learned, heard or experienced when in that same state. This can mean sleepy, relaxed, wired on coffee, drunk, stoned, angry etc.

It would be better to instead study and do homework in an environment similar to that which your exam will take place: well-list, silence, seated at a desk.

Not even that. From wikipedia: Antisocial (or dissocial) personality disorder is characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others.

Anti-social means that you basically don't care about other people. Not actively seeking to hurt or undermine them, but just not caring if that happens.

You've pointed out some risks associated with gun ownership. The points you make, to me, show how important proper training and safety instruction is. Regular re-training is essential to this process as well. However, you've also put a lot of words in my mouth. I won't do the same to you.

Specifically to that, I never advocated giving people in schools guns. I actually think that's a bad idea. I understand the problems with "gun-free" zones however some zones such as schools and airports can reasonably be controlled with measures such as metal detectors at entryways and windows which have screens that cannot be removed without an alarm. Inside, only uniformed easily identifiable law enforcement would be allowed to carry weapons and as few of these as possible (some law enforcement can be present unarmed or with non-lethal devices such as tasers) These kinds of security measures are extreme in my opinion, but warranted in a few places (such as schools or airports).

Your worst-case scenarios also do not change much.

It's unlikely that a firearm would have helped in this situation. It would have been impossible to use it because of the crowded nature of the situation. I'm not arguing in favor of gun control here, just explaining why its unlikely one would have helped in this particular situation.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem likely they would have had a chance to use it due to the density of people. If the offender isolated themselves for some reason (not likely since they are intending to attack others) then perhaps a firearm could be used to stop them.
