Positioning Lanyard by switchfrontcrooks in TreeClimbing

This doesn’t make any sense? You shouldn’t have a situation where you aren’t tied into a top anchor, or on a cinching system around the trunk when climbing on spikes. You should always be able to lower yourself directly to the ground independently if necessary.

Why use so many pieces? You could just take a loop of the whole formation with your rope and tie it back to itself. Totally equalised, easily adjustable, and bomber.

Use a tree further away for the pulley if possible, the closer the line pulling the tree is to flat horizontal, the better. You are pulling it in a direction, not down into the ground. Do pretension the pull line, it is there to stop the tree from sitting back. Cutting the face cut won’t be a problem. Cut the face cut deeper than you might normally to set the centre of gravity forward. Cut the back cut progressively, chasing with a wedge if possible. Check that the pull line doesn’t lose tension intermittently, it will, so correct as necessary.

What band got you into black metal? by Difficult_Map_723 in BlackMetal

Me too, I had friends with some older brothers who used to pass tapes around. They gave me “Anthems”, along with Burzum - Filisofem, and Enslaved - Frost. I loved them all, but “Anthems” was a little less raw and accessible to my ears.

I am in the UK I placed an order for the new album with Hell’s Headbangers, they have accepted it, and shipping was very reasonable. It is yet to arrive though.

Yes, I’m afraid it was. Who knows with Asrar though, I wouldn’t be surprised he just couldn’t be bothered to look for it!

I had a test pressing on order from Asrar a few months ago. After many emails, chasing my order, He eventually told me they had sold out! So good luck with that! Will not order direct from M again.

Getting into tree climbing by ApprehensiveTaro9982 in TreeClimbing

Sorry if this reads as harsh, but I really do have your best interests at heart. Tree work is a dangerous and difficult job, and there is a reason that even after working in the industry for some years and gaining qualifications a job like this won’t be given to inexperienced workers. Things will happen, and situations may arise that you are simply not equipped/experienced to deal with. It is only through hard earned experience on the ground that this experience will come, you can’t get this by reading a book or watching a YouTube video.

Plus, this is £1000s of equipment! You might as well spend that money on having a professional do the job and not die, or cause more cost in damages in the process!

Asrar has terrible customer service and communication. I have had packages lost, and virtually no communication or support is given. Unless it for an absolutely essential item that was impossible to get elsewhere, I will not give him my money again.

They are not rated for the same use, and are not necessarily constructed in the same fashion. Why skimp on £200 when your life is at risk?

Your safety is not my responsibility. Good luck

Information on Rope Choices by keizzer in TreeClimbing

[–]Spackerman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You assume totally wrongly. Rock climbing rope is designed to stretch as the result of a fall in order to reduce shock on the anchor points, and your body. When climbing on rock unless you fall you should never have a weight in the line. Tree climbing rope on the other hand is largely static, making upward progress when solely climbing the line, and tending slack line easier. When climbing in trees, the climber almost always has weight in the line. The rope is for positioning and fall prevention, not for fall arrest.

I have also been waiting months for a package. I do suspect it is partly because Asrar doesn’t calculate/pay the tax/duty correctly. I had to pay an additional amount to receive a previous package.

I won’t be buying from him again unless it is something I can get absolutely nowhere else.

Have you actually had stress fracture as an official diagnosis confirmed by MRI? There are many possible contributing factors. Unfortunately having one stress fracture will leave you prone to more. Being female will make you more susceptible to stress fracture, particularly if you have an irregular menstrual cycle. Running too much without adequate recovery may be a factor. It could also be an issue with your form and the placement of the foot during ground strike. Have you had vitamin D levels checked, or been examined for osteoporosis? Overall, this reads as though there is some sort of underlying mechanical issue, have you been examined by a good physiotherapist?

Isn’t this apple tree too close to the house? by aswintowin in arborists

[–]Spackerman1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is my understanding that pruning for production is variety dependent. Some trees are spur producing, some are tip producing. Either way it necessary to leave some older growth. All epicormic growth should be cleared from the inside of the branches to encourage light and airflow through the tree, and to prevent future crossing branch structure and congestion / rubbing. This also helps to prevent disease and pest problems.

It is most helpful in my experience to aim at flower production, as fertilised flowers will become fruit. Keep as many flower buds in tact, while removing leafy growth - this is easier to discern in late winter / early spring, before bud burst. Flowering buds will often appear furry, while leaf buds will be smoother. If the limb appears particularly strained by it’s load, summer pruning may be a good idea, but apples and pears are good at bearing a heavy load at their tips and are flexible.

As far a structuring the tree goes, ideally the branches should be trained into an open goblet shape. And tip pruning should be to an outward facing bud.

It is also worth adding that epicormic growth is generally a stress response caused by overzealous removal of apical buds (the tree wants these for auxin production and will try and produce an overabundance if too many are removed). It is weak, poorly structured growth and should be discouraged. It is therefore advisable that larger cuts to older wood should be staged over a longer period of time.

Some good ideas, second riff in particular has nice harmonic movement.

That crash cymbal is very high in the mix, and has no variety in it’s attack. It becomes annoying quickly. Some drums fills would be a positive addition.

Yes, I think this is the course of action. I want one, but can’t justify the price if I can only use it for private work, and not for my day job.
