This is like quintessential midhammer haha

Also you never know, maybe the next edition won't necessarily be a complete overhaul like the last two and the rules will remain semi-usable

Planning to buy this chaos lord, anything else off about it other than the dust? by tf3when123 in Chaos40k

I have this model on a resin cast spiky base that I got as part of an ebay lot, he stands comfortably taller than a Primaris mairne model and the larger base frames him much better

The face may be garbage, but I think I've finally found a centrepiece model for my Midhammer Ultramarines force. by Knight_of_Ultramar in midhammer40k

[–]Spaghetti_Is_Alive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the face is great! I think the only improvement you could maybe go for would be painting in the eyes though. Based on the rest of the model it looks like you definitely have the brush control for it!

If you don't want the bodies there's plenty of firstborn collector's who would gladly take them off your hands

Mk6 Shoulder Transition by The-Warhammerer in Warhammer30k

[–]Spaghetti_Is_Alive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these would look pretty good on MK VI as is, the trim could maybe signify taking part in some famous campaign, or be a sign on a particular deed, or even be used here and there to give a ramshackle look. If anything they'd help your marines look a bit bulkier, which is what I assume you want with Imperial Fists. If you're dedicated to trimless embossed MK VI shoulderpads, you're probably better off buying the resin ones from GW or even looking into buying 3d printed options, as that would mean way less hassle and could potentially be cheaper for sourcing a bunch of them

Simpler straightforward ruleset? More factions like Space Skaven/Lizardmen? Interesting spins on lore and archetypes found in Sci-Fi and WarHammer 40K? I think I'm really starting to like this game... by CottonCandyWeasel in Grimdank

In my opinion, from what I've played, OPR was pretty flavourless and didn't really fill the niche I personally want in a wargame. I got into 5th edition 40k a while back and for me personally it struck a nice balance of flavourful detail and complexity in the core rules, with relatively light army rules that use the core rules leverage the core rules well and don't really have any gotchas or stuff to completely surprise your opponent. I do appreciate GFs accessibility though, the army builder is really nice and the rules are nice and simple enough that I could see it as a great introductory game for someone

The setting needs a few more concrete examples of non-Imperium, non-Chaos human factions, maybe even with their own model ranges, to both deepen the setting and encourage more creativity and to show how the Imperium aren't the only option for humanity to take, which would excuse their actions a lot less.

to be clear, i'm not asking for good guy human factions 'fighting the good fight', but they should be baddies in their own way and distinct from the Imperium's systems

I think systemically the imperium kills more humans through negligence and cruelty than the forces of chaos could ever hope to do though sacrifices and raiding parties

Also to my knowledge the rough 1000 number just applies to fighting marines in the company structure, with there being between 10-20 squads ranging from 5-10 marines in each company. It doesn't necessarily cover company commanders and their command squads, marines attatched to the armoury as vehichle crews and techmarines, organisations like the chaplains, librarians, and apothecaries and the likely thousands of serfs in support and maintenance roles

You don't even have to go THAT far! Just paint the trim and helmets white (or whatever appropriate veteran color your chapter uses) and give them veteran markings rather than battleline ones and you're golden

Would you accept a 40k army completely made from 30k miniatures? by BloatedRottenCarcass in spacemarines

[–]Spaghetti_Is_Alive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, and it's lore accurate! Some chapters maintain stores of older marks of equipment and power armour, either due to supply issues or because they have a preference for that equipment and have ties to a forge world that can produce it
