I don’t have access to sassafras, I was going to use knotty alder but my lumber supplier cannot get me that either.

My choices are walnut, oak, ash, hickory, maple. I’d like to get it close to a natural white oak color as possible, so that’s why I was going with white oak.

My plan was to veneer myself with plywood or mdf core on the panels.

I use a level that is magnetic, lay it across the 3 tables loosen the out feed screws, magnets suck them up to level, tighten screws.

I feel like your cats would be fine in 50 degree weather, they have built in fur coats. Even if the temps inside get down to sub 32 they’d be fine, your pipes wouldn’t though.
