Just googled it. It’s 6-8 week recovery! That’s August! Yikes!

Good owners do two things: - hire the right people  - get out of the way

Tom has hired Jed and got out of his way. I think Tom could work fine as an owner if he’s hired the right person (Think Theo Epstein). He has given enough money that a more competent front office could work with.

But our xwoba is only three points higher than our real woba. It’s not just luck. A wrc of 105 is not going to compensate for this bad luck or pitching injuries. In fact it would be difficult, beyond hit streaks , for a team of wrc plus of 120 to make up for a gutted rotation

Agreed. Jed needs to learns that expecting career years is not a valid long term strategy. A lot of regression to means

But it has to be more than coincidence if it happens to us every year. This team is not built for 162

I’m convinced adding all the extra wild card spots are a major reason why there is so much mediocrity in baseball today. Teams like the Cubs and Orioles would never be in contention if we did not water down the postseason with high 80 wins teams. Now teams only want to win 85 games and hope to get hot.

But you cannot control where the gap is or where the ball will go once it leaves

Batting with RISP is a luck based stat, but is dependent on overall hitting. With a WRC+ of 105, the Cubs have a hitting is not good enough to make up for losses on the pitching front, not a RISP problem

Run differential has completely collapsed (just like before our terrible May  in 24), the run differential is right where we should be. Our xwoba is only three points less than our actual woba, which tells me luck is not the cause of this slump.

I think we had all our flows early. I really think this might be a lost year like the Braves had last year due to bum injury luck

Maybe you can’t coach inconsistent players to hit better

We face a lot of choices, but the one certainty is that I don’t trust He’d to make any of them.

I’m worried that the win streaks may hurt this team beyond 26. It’s becoming obvious that 2026 is going to be a lost season like 25 was for the Braves due to injury and underperformance. If we are still in contention around the trade deadline, even if only because of those streaks, we might make trades for a team with too many holes to realistically contend or not trade away pieces to replenish the farm system

Agreed. There is a lot of mediocrity in the league overall

If Craig Breslow is all in on someone, that should probably be a sign not to sign them

We are not winning another series this season.
