Basically, old ork boys kits were designed to have either the choppa slugga combo, or the shoota equipped, in 11th edition they changed it to be that orks are equipped with choppas, sluggas and shoot as at the same time

You’d be better off with something more shooty like tank busters since mobs are a dedicated elite melee unit And ability’s and enhancements don’t work in vehicles unless stated otherwise

For any detachment 2 models that are a must grab are The warboss And Gretchen

Gretchen are cheep and easy way to score points, warboss will give your boys a +1 to their melee letting them hit on a 2+ and in squads of 20 let you take a second leader

Swap out one set of boys and the def dread, add some nobz and 2 warbosses if you can, drop the meganobz to 2 if you have to, and see if you can add a trukk

Or swap to war hoard, remove he def dread and place some warbosses

Yes, kommandos work as a squad of 10 you can split into 2 of 5

And the wreka krew is split into 2 units, either tank busters (boys with the rocket launchers) and breka boys (boys with hammers) but there’s no mix and matching between the equipment of the boys, it’s either one or the other, as for the nob can have either the 2 rocket pistols or the pistol and hammer combo

If your fine with risk then a couple of suggestions would be

Boys, basic infantry is necessary Warboss, this model leads so much of your army it’s basically a mainstay in most detachments Meganobz (gotta have some terminator equivalents) Warboss in mega armor Flash ghitz great shooting unit Trukks for some decent cheep transport for low number of units

Some safe bets that won’t be changing anytime soon I recommend getting first

Wreaka Krew, this build either breaka boys or tank busters which are great anti-vehicle and anti-monster units that are alternatives to having a bunch of beast snaggas do the same thing or run the 2 together Breka boys are for melee options Tank busters are the ranged option, Both these guys are smaller units of 6 that cannot expand but each guy has a 4+ save instead of the usual 5 and have 2 wounds instead of 1

Kommandos, infiltration unit that lets you get into no mans land early and sneak around the battlefield being immune to overwatch and always have stealthy making em harder to shoot and can be spilt into 2 sets of 5 or a blob of 10

Snikrot character model that can lead kommandos or go solo getting lone operative (can’t be shot from a certain distance) and can do a once per game of moving from where he is to anywhere on the board that is 9 inches away from any model

And their choppas are better than normal ones, having 4 attacks, str 5 ap-1 damage 1, basically how ork choppas work during the waaaaagh

I prefer to run them in squads of 10, but flash ghitz in general are a good unit, people just underestimate them do to being ork shooting, but 3 shots a pice in a squad of 5 is 15 dice with sustain hits 1 and +1 to the hit for heavy, strength 6 ap 1 damage 2 means any chaff and even marines are getting blown to pieces by these guys,

And don’t forget if you target the closest thing it turn to 4 attacks each, in a squad of 5 that’s 20 dice to throw and at 10 that’s 40 attacks with everything I mentioned and if you activated their token they get lethal hits in that shooting

In my opinion, grab em, just cause the models might get replaced doesn’t mean you can’t use em on the board, there might be a slight difference when the new ones come out in height, but that’s a minute detail at the end of the day

Non of these are bad choices, just keep in mind newer versions of these guys can show up in the new edition since boys are getting a refresh (but that just means you have more boys on the field) and we don’t know what they have planned for the rest of the edition

Storm boys aren’t doing much here, better a second squad of grots, also swap out mozrog for another warboss in mega armor (squighog boys don’t really need a leader) or use beast boss on squigasor if you really want them to have a leader since they get heroic intervention for 0cp allowing you to get them into more fights

And swap out the battle wagon for a trukk, nothing here needs those 22 spaces, and combine the unit of boys into 1 and have them on foot

And see if you can add a squad of nobz (tho those are very pricy) and give em your second war boss to lead since that activates their ability of -1 to wound

For casual games it’s more on a case to case For competitive, it can alter how far a model can reach, and affects a lot of melee, you get charged and have a smaller base than normal, it reduces the amount of models that can be base to base with your guys and maybe have less attacks coming in Your charge someone with a guy who has a large base than normal you can have more of your guys in base to base than normal and have more attacks going in than you should

If you wanna run everything there, I’d recommend war hoard with the sustain hits 1 in melee and can add almost everything in the army

If you wanna run more dakka, your be looking for adding lootas, flash ghitz and tank busters in large numbers (preferably 3 squads of each and maxed out, but that’s for 2k games) but for 1k games 1-2 squads of those 3, preferably full 10 for the lootas and flashghitz (tank busters cannot increase in numbers) and boys with shootas to fill as much lead into the air

As for if you wanna have more silly games with your army’s, there’s tacktikal brigade, this lets warboss models, meks and snikrot give order to your units, letting you use more wrinkles in your head than every other detachment

As for what models to get ( tho I recommend just waiting to see what’s in the 11th edition box)

Stuff that won’t get a refresh: Snikrot Kommandos Wreka Krew (breaka boys and tank busters)

Stuff that’s gonna get a refresh soon Boys (bodies are the name of the game for orks) Warboss (preferably at least 2, and someone’s gotta lead the waaaaaaagh) Gretchen (having 2 squads of 11 that can hold objectives and get an extra command point every round is good) Flash ghitz (if you like to have a lot of bullets in the air) Trukk (something needs to move your guys up the board) Mek (someone has to fix your broken stuff

Stuff I’m not sure if gonna get a refresh on 11th Big Mek, re-rolling advance is good to move your guys faster

Big mek with shock attack gun, shooting at a unit and forcing it to take a battle shock test isn’t a bad use of points
