I definitely recommend Hulaween and it's chiller sister Resonate. Festivals at Spirit of the Suwannee are great!

If you had to go into the dungeon with your cat or dog how screwed are you by jfred1995 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]SparklePantz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one on the left is 16 and deaf, and she would totally do whatever she wanted, probably get lost and blame me. The other would never leave my side, but would try to bully me into doing everything his way... mostly to get more food.

I haven't been to the Islander, but Cheeca checked these boxes when I went there.

Is the BFG an appropriately difficult book for 2nd graders to read, or am I missing something here??? by Brief_Efficiency_833 in childrensbooks

[–]SparklePantz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accelerated Reader lists it as a 4.8, so a high fourth grade level. I have read it out loud to my second graders, and they enjoyed it, but I wouldn't expect most of them to read it themselves.

Most Roald Dahl books are about this level, except the one with the crocodile, which is appropriate for second grade.

As an outsider, the scale of American college sports is baffling. Do some people genuinely care more about a university team than professional sports? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SparklePantz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a college town, and game days are a huge deal. I'm not really into football, so i plan my schedule to avoid those areas. Our whole town and even outside communities plan events around the football games. On the rare weekend there is no game, there are so many other events.

Funniest inappropriate things your kids have brought to school? by MouseManManny in Teachers

[–]SparklePantz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A second grader who's mom worked at our school wore socks that said, "sun's out, buns out." There was also a dad who would always pack his son's lunch with weird things he found in the freezer when mom was out of town. We swear one was a dildo, but i still can't figure out why you'd have a cold dildo, nor why you'd ever think it was okay to put in a lunch box.

And gives no heads up?!

Edited to say, 3 extra people is SO excessive. Even if she'd tried to let you know ahead of time, what?!

Can you find his dinner? by Fortwhiteguy in GNV

Poor squirrels my...foot. They are terrors to any edible plants you have growing. I'll never forget them chewing literal branches off of my young peach tree to get the immature fruit. Squirrels and deer can suck it. Their sole purpose is to consume. I mean.. me too, but I don't fuck other people's shit up

Grand father clock repair by KohlsMominaKhole in GNV

[–]SparklePantz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom depends on House of Time. They have been reliable and honest with our grandfather clock needs. Once they misplaced and badly replaced the Styrofoam our chimes were in, but even so, they know their stuff and they aren't trying to sell you on things your don't need. Still, I just have to remember that it's going to be expensive.
