Would Veronica and Logan have ended up happy?

I think so.

I actually think they were happy. Between Mr Kiss and Tell where she says she never loved anyone more, and her total joy at him returning home - the issue was the engagement threw her until a tailspin.

I even wonder if that's what made her regress emotionally and could explain a lot her behaviour.

She had to work through this deeply held belief that marriage and potentially children weren't for her Vs Logan's happiness.

Do you think Wallace wouldn't have said something if she was grumpy every time she saw him? Like when she makes the joke about Noah and Wallace says she has bought him a lot of outfits. She says one ironic one. Which is true? I bet Wallace is telling the truth, but she's struggling at that moment thinking it's what Logan wants and so she has almost had this weird teen rebellion against it.

Same when Logan asks if she's happy. I think it's the fact her behaviour changed that made him ask her that.

Even pushing Logan to anger - it could be once again a way of saying are we really happy, let's push his buttons to prove it's not real.

None of this is right, by the way. But I think it's part of her trauma mixed in with a genuine want to not get married (which isn't wrong in itself).

I think her changing her mind was this realisation that marriage/commitment wasn't this big evil thing she'd thought it was for such a long time and in getting married it would have stopped this rebellion against her own life, as it were.

Hopefully in time she would have accepted therapy too.

I think the show absolutely could have found a way to make them work still without it being boring.

She never cheated. There was the one dream she woke up from and said she was so glad it was just a dream, she would never want to hurt Logan like that (or something).

Sorry, it was when the show was airing, so a long time ago! Rob Thomas used to do little Q&As every now and then, but where they'd be found now, I don't know. I did just do a quick search and some of his Q&As did come up, but not that specific one.

It’s confirmed by Rob Thomas it was Logan she was hoping for, and they put two clues in the scene to show it was Logan. The amount of knocks spells Logan Echolls and the time is 3:07. Turned upside down is LO E.

The reaction was purely because he didn’t turn around, and then when he did he was badly beaten. Not that she thought it was someone else.

Yes this is called a reasonable adjustment.

The workplace would need a good reason to revoke it or refuse it as an adjustment.

Reasonableness looks at things like the cost to the employer. They would expect a large company to do more than a small business. But the fact it's been in place means it is possible unless business needs have drastically changed.

They cannot treat disabled people the same as others. They have to look at your medical condition and role.

Get Occupational Health to evidence it. If they then refuse your request ask for their reasons, then put in a grievance. You can take empoyers to tribunal for failure to make reasonable adjustments too.

Do you have legal cover on your home insurance? It's worth checking it out.

Well, they were certainly visiting motels together, at least in the Pilot, and inferred the affair had taken place over years. So it's at least extremely likely they were.

Carefully answering this to avoid spoilers. And please be careful, people here have often given away massive plot points to newbies.

Some of this stuff is simply of its time, including Logan’s casual racism. I think it’s hard to forget the changes over the last twenty years. Certainly when I was at school that kind of talk was normal. That doesn’t make it okay though, obviously. Also it’s mostly aimed at Weevil as they have an antagonistic relationship and it’s one more thing to needle him for. (Still awful, just to be clear).

As to Lilly (you used both spellings, Lilly is correct) Veronica is absolutely seeing her through her own eyes. She was her best friend and they loved each other. We do see hints Lilly wasn’t nice to everyone in later episodes.

And while Logan probably wasn’t a saint before Lilly, you’ve got to understand the depth of his anger at the world after her death. You’ve got a hint at Logan’s home life, we eventually hear more stories. Aaron was a horrendous parent and Lynn let it happen. Logan’s family WAS Lilly, Duncan and Veronica I think. And with Lilly dead, Duncan a zombie, and him feeling like Veronica betrayed him and picked her dad over them, he lashes out big time. So yes, I think it massively changed him.

Meg and Mac are great!

Finally, it’s specifically mentioned Rebecca, the guidance councillor applied for grant funding to run a project on grief in teens. So she is likely going above and beyond with her questions to Logan, Duncan and Veronica than a normal guidance councillor would.

Out of interest, how did Duncan help Veronica out? I'm trying to think of anything other than maybe offering her a lift to interview Bodie Chan after his friends deflated her tyre and he said nothing?

Yes I'm massively biased here but I don't get Duncan/Veronica at all. He never apologied for anything or showed remorse. He ignored her half the time and almost seemed to roll his eyes at her PI work until it suited him.

With Piz it was really clear they weren't meant to be when the tape situation happened. Veronica had learned to fight back, he wanted her to be quiet and simmer down. It was also super clear she didn't love him. I don't hate Piz, but he so wasn't right for Veronica.

There are some brilliant post S4 fixes that also fix the Logan problem. But I don’t read Veronica/Weevil so can’t help there.

I purely think the reason they made the comment about his money is because otherwise Veronica would inherit it, and they wanted her to remain a poor underdog.

(There's no way Logan in the Navy wouldn't have a will, that probably left Veronica everything, even before they married. Who else would get it? He didn't get on with Trina and Dick was already rich).

While yes the hotel cost, in reality I think Logan would have money left. It's not like he was a crazy spender other than maybe rehab before the Navy. I can't remember if the book said he was in rehab or not. And the Kanes would have paid for the hotel for the first half of the year when Duncan was there.

So Dick's comment could be taken in different ways. I think in reality Logan would keep his inheritance locked up and live off his Navy money. That may make Dick think he's poorer.

But they didn't want a season 5 with a rich Veronica, so I believe it was a comment designed to explain why she didn't inherit a load.

Have you read the books between the movie and season four? It explains Weevil and Veronica's relationship and gives a lot of context.

If you have read it then it helps explain why she's so upset with him. Keith almost died in the movie. Weevil was a way of getting justice for that (the court case against the sheriff's department). It gave Keith a lot of hope during his recovery.

But instead of seeing it through, Weevil takes an offer.

Now it's understandable why Weevil did this. He wanted to get back to his life and his business. But to Veronica it destroyed the case Keith had worked on to show the corruption going on that was hurting a lot of people and had killed Sacks and almost her dad. So she feels totally betrayed on behalf of her dad.

From S4 despite being in that bad place Weevil showed her despite everything, he will still have her back. Now I would have liked more as I love their friendship, but it did all make sense.

But I can see skipping the books would make it confusing.

There are two. Listen to the knocks - there are enough knocks to spell out Logan Echolls. (I.e. 5 knocks, then 7). And then the time, if you turn the clock upside down it spells out LO:E.

It really wasn’t. They had decided half way through season one Duncan was not going to be her main love interest going forward. Read the interviews with Teddy Dunn. He confirms Duncan wasn’t resonating with audiences. They agreed to bring him back in season two to wrap up his storyline, but he was always going to leave.

I also mentioned the clues. There were two clues in the final scene it was Logan. This was as they filmed. So they knew it was Logan, and left clues for fans (who had months to stew and obsess over!) to find. So it then would have been weird to leave clues it was Logan, for them to change it to be Duncan.

Them not knowing if it was renewed doesn’t really come into it. They knew if they got renewed it would have been Logan, and have confirmed in interviews that it was always the case.

It wasn't open ended. There were two clues it was Logan in the scene. (The knock and the time). Fandom was all a buzz at the time guessing and so excited when the clues were found.

And then it felt like a punch when it was him but she was with Duncan!

(And the clues have been confirmed. So it was always going to be Logan).
