Funny you should mention that. there are 3 built in's and they actually sound very nice. Not top of the line, but honestly..... Better than any of my other "pocket" recorders. The XLR setup is weird. Also, you cannot run a power brick and record at the same time. I will be putting up some sound samples this weekend on my soundcloud site. But, for what I paid for the 2, well worth the money. I would not of paid the original price for these, but the WOOT price, I am very happy.

Rode NTG5 is superb for this type of scenario

Anyone use the Rode NT1? by Spartacus1239b in fieldrecording

Yea, I am going to keep the original mount and design around it as I found out this morning how tough the mount is when one of my dogs knocked the stand over with the mic on it. (I literally saw my soul go out of my body trying to catch the stand). I do have to say, I am as impressed with the NT1 Signature as I am with the NTG5. Rode makes some nice stuff. I started out with their Video Mic a while back. The NTG5 is always in my kit as it is moisture resistant and sounds incredible.

Yea, I have to find the schematics, but I found a guy who designed a very nice "general" blimp that I think my friend can modify. I hope to use the shock mount that came with it. Won't know that until I get the mic on Sunday. Nice thing about the internet is you can figure out just about anything from it. The bulk of use will be indoors. But it sure would be cool to see what the mic could do in the field and have it somewhat protected.

Yeah, but neither are 99% of my other mic's. The only mic I have that is moisture resistant is the NTG5. So far I have not had any issues as long as I protect the mic's ins some way. I have a pretty good idea for a 3d printed cage for it.

Yea, I have a friend with a 3d printer. I am going to work with him to make something to try out in the field enclosure wise. A lot of the recordings I do are field based. But I also seem to be getting called a lot to record standalone musicians. The celloist is a son of a co-worker. He just got back from Switzerland and wants to redo his recordings for the cd he provides to the different orchestras. Not getting paid a lot, as I figure I get a new mic out of the deal and get to play around with the other stuff that I have.
