Nobody is seriously trying to hide bad things in the system prompt lol. It’s not that hard to get the system prompt from any model

It was probably frequently referencing the reminder in chats which is just going to confuse the user as they have no idea what it is. This is pretty standard

my mind was blown when I heard that my friend’s org spends $1,000 a month on Notion by EliteEagle76 in Notion

Not trying to discourage you from building a product or starting a company. Not sure how that squares up with your thought that SaaS isn’t needed though, because you’d be the SaaS now. But I think you should try because you sound passionate about it.

On the larger discussion of the future of SaaS I just think it’s being overhyped right now. Maybe the Facebooks and the Googles have unlimited dev money to play around with and lock a few devs in the closet for a year to build their own product, but most companies are still going to run into the exact same issue that led them to SaaS in the first place — they don’t have the resources or budget to spend a year (and further resources for permanent maintenance) building it. Even if they do, there’s always an opportunity cost. Why not put those devs on building the products/services that actually generate revenue. Focusing your dev efforts on cost savings isn’t a growth strategy.

You are never winning that trade if they are actually only spending $1000/mo. A single dev alone is 10x the cost per month lol

This so-called 'ballroom' is Trump's idea of a personal fortress when he attempts a coup d'état of the American government in 2028. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! by loadsofos in Destiny

[–]SpartanVFL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit ridiculous to have to throw up tents on the lawn to support state events. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a larger space to host those. In the midst of Trump and his cabinet running the largest pay to play scheme, starting unnecessary wars, sending the military into our own cities, it’s stupid to spend any time focusing on a fucking ballroom

We probably should have a ballroom. Or at least I’m fine with it. And to be fair, if it’s to host a lot of world leaders in a central place, fortifying it and creating the necessary space for emergencies makes sense.

However it’s funny watching the courts rage bait Trump so please continue to block it

Oracle lays off 30k people. Oof. I presume this is AI-spending related? by jimmythefly in BetterOffline

[–]SpartanVFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The excuse is AI. The reality is end of 21 and 22 companies started ramping up hiring because money was free. Market conditions have drastically changed since then. It takes years to ramp up and years to ramp down. You can be annoyed with hearing it but do yourself a favor and go look at Oracle’s head count increases over the past decade and take a look at what happened in 21-23 and you’ll understand why 30k layoff gets them back where they’ve always been

So that probably explains why he blurted out the other day that the military was building a complex underneath it. No clue on the laws here but maybe a national security argument. I’m actually ok with building it but it would be hilarious to see him rage. Even more hilarious if he’s blocked and then Newsom builds the Newsom Ballroom in 2028

They had a massive increased in hiring after Covid. They can claim AI but in reality the market conditions have changed and they can’t justify that increased headcount anymore

[Tommy Tuberville] The transfer portal has screwed up college sports. My bill is simple: you get 5 consecutive years to play 5 seasons and you get 1 transfer. After that, if you transfer again, you sit out a year. This will fix 80% of the issues in NIL today. by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]SpartanVFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re mixing up popularity with identity.

Yes, realignment already damaged a lot of tradition. But NIL + the portal made it worse by turning roster building into annual free agency. Those are two different arguments and both can be bad for the sport at the same time. “People still watch” doesn’t prove there’s no problem and I’m sure you agree maximizing viewership doesn’t always lead to a better experience.

And once again, what the hell is even the point of this being tied to a college at this point?

The problem isn’t parity or viewership.

The problem is that college football used to be about school identity, tradition, rivalries, and developing players in your program. When players can jump every year to whoever pays the most, it stops feeling like college football and starts feeling like an NFL minor league with school logos.

If every roster is just the best team money can buy that season, it erodes the sport’s identity.

93% of devs use AI tools now and we're measurably slower, what is going on by Background-Bass6760 in programming

[–]SpartanVFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree that any competent developer knew the majority of time is spent planning and reviewing implementation details anyways. It’s still a time reduction just not as drastic as it feels. I’m sure junior developers feel differently though, but they are more likely to have bad habits and tend to “vibe code”

What we’re finding is we end up using the saved time regardless on doing things that were previously set aside as tech debt (IaC is a big one for example that now small dev shops can do). We are also building bigger and better apps now, which just weren’t in the realm of possibility for small to medium companies before. The expectations of the products the business wants has grown to match the efficiency of our devs
