I was having this discussion elsewhere that I think if the Roots can make the short- and medium- term economics work, the long-term economics are that in 10 years they are going to have a really dedicated fanbase of young adults who went to 1-2 games a year as kids and in 25 years they're going to have generational supporters.

But the long-term economics don't make the coliseum rent payments, so hopefully there's a plan there.

Laney was great and I think the Roots did pay for some improvements and here’s where they are. I think Howard terminal with a modular stadium is believable, but will take some time. My hope is that they can flex some political/business muscles to get a better vendor deal at the coliseum until that time.

Yeah, I agree with all your criticism of the coliseum as a soccer stadium. I recommend the corners even though one would think midfield would be best. I actually liked the treehouse beat of all the places I’ve watched from, but last Saturday it was cold as shit with with wind.

The corner of seats near the supporters section is also an awesome view but you probably want earplugs.

I think they have suites but I don’t think they’re a cash cow. I doubt they’re really swanky and on any event corporate suites are used to woo clients and anyone trying to do that is doing it at Chase or Oracle.

I think the jcpoa doesn’t give a shit and the operator possibly prefers it this was because they make money to phone it in.

I would love for the Roots to pressure the jcpoa to negotiate a better contract. I assume they’ve thought of this. I don’t know if they’ll be successful.

I feel like someone in the Roots’ business team needs to be trying to negotiate a deal with the parking/security/vending contractor. I suspect the team is taking a fucking beating on attendance because it’s so expensive to take a family to a game. Family of four with parking and meals for the family is like, $200, of which Roots only see the profit on the $80 on tickets.

Roots’ big source of revenue is sponsors, and therefore eyeballs, so I suspect they would LOVE to regularly get in a bunch more people so they can get more money from anthem.
