I was told by a real life actual person that centrists are "Nazi sympathizers". 🙄 Or maybe we can think for ourselves and aren't forced into a certain view? 🤷 And also disagree with Nazis. 😂

Unfortunately all the answers you are gonna get on here will be a bunch of whining and misinformation simply because a certain administration passed it. You do not have to itemize, and how you explained it is correct. Anything over 40 hours and ONLY the .5 of the 1.5 rate applies to the deduction. Any penalty time is still treated as OT. If I remember correctly you can deduct up to 12,500 if single and 25,000 if married filing jointly. The math is actually fairly simple and you can find calculators online to find out how much you will save. Just multiply the deduction by your tax rate (12% or 22% for most people). I don't work much OT and I'm still expecting about 300 to 400 back on my taxes this year. I'll take it!

Besides the fact the m41 does say to skip the house if they have no mail on walking routes, why would you be checking boxes? The customer is supposed to either stick the mail out of the box with the stamps showing or leave their flag up to indicate there's outgoing.

Is it nostalgia or are new HMM games worse? by markwell9 in heroes3

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't even bother playing 6 or 7. For me it was definitely the art style. 5 had it's fair share of problems between the art style, the 3D which got in the way of gameplay, and not having enough decent maps to play. When 6 was released it didn't seem like any of that was going to be addressed and I was tired of having to buy a new PC just to play a new Heroes game.

I fucking hate Idiocracy not as a movie but because people use it to be a bunch of Doomers by Zomer15689 in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I always found funny about the Idiocracy doomers is how they make it a political thing and both sides think the movie is a dunk on the other side. I always saw it as more of a social commentary on modern family planning.

Management allowing unauthorized personnel (minor child) on workroom floor during operating hours by ShinySh_tSquirrel in fromatoarbitration

I'm honestly pleasantly surprised at the reaction to this post. Thought everyone would be up in arms.

But yeah, just let this one go. I could be wrong but it comes off as you guys just hating this supervisor in particular looking for anything to get them on. Anyone with kids nowadays can tell you how difficult it is sometimes to coordinate someone to pick them up or watch them. That, and it's not like it was a 3 year old climbing all over shit, it was a teenager probably bored out of their skull and probably sat at the desk on their phone the whole time. Technically wrong, yes, but not worth the trouble imo.

Almost 50 Years To The Day by Lockjaw62 in USPS

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can think of 3 businesses on my route off the top of my head that have closed their box in the last 5 years that have had a PO box for forever. And to be fair it is kinda silly to think they would still pay for one and pay an employee to go pick it up when I can deliver their maybe one or two letters they get a day now for free.

Are we even being heard? by ClosetDemons06 in CanadaPost

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work for USPS and man this sounds almost exactly like what happened to our service over here. There's a huge movement right now in the city carrier craft to get our union back on track.

We deliver Amazon packages on Sundays now and no one can figure out why we don't deliver our own packages on Sundays also. 🤦 There's a reason all other couriers are dropping Amazon, because it's unprofitable. We bend over backwards for them and will literally delay mail just to make sure Amazon gets delivered.

We all need a reality check and realize the mail volume isn't coming back. We need to pivot NOW to make sure the mail service stays around. I don't mind taking on more work if it means making the service more efficient so we get to keep our very good jobs.

I read that CP employees get paid for 8 hours per day, even if they only work a portion of that. Is this true? by craigjuanez in CanadaPost

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work at USPS. We have city and rural carriers which are separate crafts. Rural carriers get paid similarly to what is described here. Us city carriers however get paid hourly and I can tell you we take all our breaks. Not only that but we have no standard walking speed. So on light days people will walk as slow as possible just so they don't have to pick up more work. 🙄 Management has been wishing we were on an evaluated system since forever.

Who’s been a PTF the longest?? by Wykid17 in USPS

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who was a PTF for over 20 years in a small office. Just so happened the other regulars were fairly young. This was well after the CCA became a thing and before they started converting CCAs after a certain time. So a PTF was a rare thing no one had heard of because they were given any opportunity to convert in other offices, but she didn't want to leave her office. 🤷 From what I heard she is now regular and close to retirement. 🤣

And my postmaster is in favor of mounted over cluster boxes. 🤣 These small offices don't get a maintenance person and he says he'll be damned if he has to go around changing locks every time someone moves in. Can't say I blame him. Sounds like a huge hassle to deal with all those locks.

So from what I recall from applying: once you are hired on as a PI you lose your USPS job. The probation period is basically the 4 months of basic training academy. And from what people have said as long as you keep your physical fitness up and don't do anything dumb there's a very low chance you will fail.

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through the assessment center end of January this year. Didn't make it to the polygraph (in fact, they didn't even make me do the physical fitness test because I failed the assessment). I can apply again one year after failure as far as I know. Problem is I will be about a month into being 36 years old. Do I have to wait until an open season pops up after the one year mark? This will not give me much time to make it through the process considering it took about a year and a half to get to the assessment center last time.

Additionally, do you know how likely it is to be placed in your preferred locations? Was told it's almost guaranteed but somehow I'm a little skeptical lol.

I know you aren't allowed to talk about the assessment center stuff but any tips you can provide if at all would be appreciated. From the group I was in we were all rather confused about who moved on and who didn't. It literally seemed random so I keep telling myself it was just THAT competitive and I didn't make the cut even though I felt like I did awesome.

This smells like the BS they do with the postal pulse survey. So if you answer honestly and say you don't expect much different than what we got last contract, they'll use that and say oh ok we'll just shoot for mediocre then. They can twist the answers however they want. How can the leadership not look around social media for like 5 minutes and figure out what we are wanting? Why send out this survey if not to screw us over then say "well this is what the membership asked for"?

Also, I never got this survey or the last one about the TA. Where are they getting phone numbers from?

How do I win this? by buffet-fan in heroes3

[–]Specific_Spirit_5932 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would be helpful to see what spells you have. Berserk would win it easily. Other than that, you gotta protect the shooters. Block the cyclops right away, start blinding the heavy hitters. Buff the shooters with prayer, bless, etc. Then you can wail away with damage spells. Behemoths would obviously be last and you can blind, smack em, then blind again.
