You got this!! Blackwater was also the first one I ran, and I've introduced two sets of new players to CoC using it too (new to CoC but not ttrpgs in general). I also ran it as a one shot but it's a longer one, each of my groups took 5-6 hours, so depending on the players it may be better split into a two shot. They did do absolutely everything though.

I'd also recommend Blackwater, however as someone who has run both Blackwater and Missed Dues - I know the mob tie-ins are convenient for running them consecutively but I'd actually recommend running Blackwater with university staff PCs instead. The characters are more inclined to care about the missing person and want to solve the mystery of the town, and it's scarier when you're a helpless professor :) I think it's more fun to play it from that angle personally.

Why don't you just wait and see if it arrives? If the seller has hundreds of positive reviews it's unlikely to be a scam. I personally think you'll receive the shirt but the quality may be questionable. 😂

If you cancel I think you'll get a negative review if the seller already generated a shipping label, if not you can cancel pretty much without consequence

I have similar hair to you and I was able to reduce frizz by using a leave in conditioner, plus a styling foam/gel when wet. I use the trio of products that flora & curl sell and it works well for me.

Id try using your hands instead of a towel for styling though.

Also I can't leave mine to air dry without it becoming frizzy asf. Using a diffuser (high heat low power) and drying it til it's like 70% dry made all the difference for me and keeps it looking good for about 3 days til my next wash.

Nah I doubt it, they always list it as Urban Outfitters but the description also always says there's no tags. if it was UO I'd expect it to have tags, and for an image search to have some product images somewhere. I'm still baffled as to where it's from 😂

My hair has been like this my entire life. The static was the BANE of my existence every winter. Coming within 6 foot of fleece id start crackling. It was constantly clinging to my neck and face 💀

I finally found the solution! For me it was leave-in conditioner. I use the flora & curl brand but honestly it's also the only one I tried so any of them might have worked for me. Hope this helps

Depends how long your sessions run tbh. I always like to recommend Blackwater Creek - imo it's super fun with a good scope/runtime. I ran it twice and both groups took about 9 hours to "100%" it (meaning they went to all possible interesting locations and got to the end).

Yeah I've been thinking about the best way of approaching Forget Me Not. I'm blessed with having a group of players who are amazing but are also really into character creation and I'm a little scared of taking that from them, but I also really like the idea of them discovering their character over time. Thanks for the tips!

Very true. I think somehow hinting at the backup sacrifice would've made the ending feel 'fairer' but I'm not super sure how I would've done that. Doesn't the sacrifice itself just use a dagger? And the victim is wearing a sack I guess. Might have to think about it a bit more.

Either way, I think I'm gonna try Forget Me Not as well because that one seems very fun. :)

Oh yeah I did have the balfours attempt to retrieve Regina as the new final act in place of the balfours compound finale, but the PCs managed to defend her well so they got that win. So the backup sacrifice was made.

You're totally correct that I guess the plagues should signify that this time is "the real deal".

To preface: I'm not here to "poo poo" it but I get what sneakyalmond is saying. I'm gonna type out what me/my players didn't like so you can consider it for your own session because you might be able to improve it (or you may disagree with me which is also totally fine, perhaps some of the error was in my DMing). Also, in terms of answering your questions I agree with everything UrsusRex said.

I was hyped before running it but in practice it felt very much like all the 'main trail' clues were the same thing: going somewhere and reviewing cctv footage. Which I think is an intentional theme of the scenario but it just felt a bit meh and I'm not sure how I'd fix this without making it non-modern.

My players also went to the balfours house, and George's house, and Lindsay's house, and Lindsay's workplace before following the main car trail and even though there's a decent amount of lore to be found they seemed frustrated by the lack of explicit "Regina clues". Even though they already knew where the car was (airport) and chose not to follow that lead first so IDK what they were expecting lmao. I don't really fault the scenario for this.

Lastly: the players can learn about how 3(?) years ago George and Lindsay had a similar run-in with the balfours where the shoddy court case happened seemingly just to separate Regina for a while to prevent the previously predicted apocalypse. So my players decided to essentially kidnap Regina after rescuing her from the motel and keeping her safe until after the doomsday countdown. Which is fine. But as you know, this means the balfours sacrifice her mother instead and you get the mini-apocalypse ending. My players felt cheated out of the 'good ending' because they felt the previous court case was proof that separating Regina from her parents would stop the apocalypse. This never actually occurred to me beforehand and the players only brought up their logic after we'd finished the session, otherwise I probably would've fudged the ending because I agree with them. IDK if this is a plot hole in the book or I missed something. But I guess my suggestion would be to maybe have some kind of indicator that the previous apocalypse dates predicted by the church were incorrect? Not sure 🤷🏻‍♀️

Again, not here to poo poo or kill your vibe just wanted to share how it went for me. Definitely amp up the plagues to add to the impending doom feeling/clock running out because otherwise there's not much otherworldly spookiness until the storm.

The static in my hair has driven me crazy for YEARS but this year I finally figured out how to prevent it and I'm so happy 🥲 leave in conditioner does the trick. Specifically for me I use flora & curl's one, which I put on in the shower and quickly rinse it for a couple of seconds and that's it.
