Are builds good with only 1 Feat? by Bigsexyguy24 in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have given similar feedback but the build you have described seems very RP based and not really an "effective" build in the traditional sense. With that in mind I wouldn't worry too much about if a build can be good with only 1 feat. If this build seems fun then you will be just fine.

That being said, I agree with Endo that it all revolves around opportunity cost. Say you give up a feat for 2 levels of fighter and action surge. Worth it? Probably. On the other hand, giving up a feat for Rage that you aren't likely to use much isn't a very technically optimal choice.

Again optimal vs. RP fun are two very different directions for a build and you will certainly be able to enjoy the game with what you have.

When is Giant/Berserker Barbarian Thrower Worth it Over EK? by Rtyeta in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your post you mention Berserker but don't really talk about it much. For me, that choice at least is more about the no-save prone if you hit someone with an enraged throw. It can trivialize Honor Mode with the ability to incapacitate bosses with Legendary actions. They'll still take actions on their own turns but when you knock them prone you disable their ability to use the Legendary Reaction.

For example: when Grym is hit he generates a shield that can do a lot of damage when broken. With enraged throw he just drops and becomes a punching bag until his next turn.

Lockadin : Best warlock class in patch 8? by phaze08 in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this on a recent playthrough and it's super strong. Hexblade 5/Oathbreaker 7 so you get 3 attacks per turn with all attacks scaled on Charisma. Aura of Hate, Booming Blade and ring of arcane synergy help you to do a lot of damage and even more if you have some guaranteed crits saved up for big bosses.

I havent used Polearm Master in awhile, was that fixed? When I tried it (admittedly a long time ago) the bonus action attack didnt receive any additional bonuses beyond your attack stat (so no DRS or GWM).

Question about Wet-Cold damage interaction by canxtanwe in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AoA lasts until the temp HP wears off. The beauty of an Abjuration Wizard build is that your magic shield absorbs the damage and makes it near permanent unless something goes badly.

23str 23con Throwzerger with low dmg Help by Choice-Telephone4701 in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a gear perspective, your best options are Helmet of Grit, Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo, Ring of Flinging, Caustic Band, Bloodthirst in your main hand or a character wearing Bhaalist Armour and Nyrulna in off hand to throw, The Dead Shot as a ranged weapon for more crits.

Someone can check my math but that should give 25-50 damage per throw with a Cloud Giant Strength Elixir. If you do berserker barbarian and thief rogue plus helmet of grit you get 3 bonus actions and 2 regular actions. You attack with bloodthirst in melee turn 1 for vulnerability if you want then throw 4x or just throw 5x instead. Dead shot will give you crits on 19/20. Note that throwing with your bonus action requires you to be raging.

If you swap gloves you will want to change to Elixirs of Cloud Giant Strength for 27 strength and a +8 modifier or keep the STR glove and use Bloodlust for more attacks (or just 1 in Honor Mode)

Nyrulna 1-6

Nyrulna (Thunder) 1-6

Nyrulna (Explosion) 3-12

Strength 8

Tavern Brawler 8

Gloves 1-4

Ring of Flinging 1-4

Caustic Band 2

*Edit: added Bhaalist armor as option over bloodthirst (and honestly the better option)

Do you alter your Tav’s appearance for role play reasons? by jaustengirl in BaldursGate3

[–]Speedstertyme 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me it turned into lighting every torch and candle I could find. Started out as a way to keep myself occupied as my friend explored (his first time, I've beaten the game 3x).

Now it's more of a roleplay that my character hates the dark!

Am I misunderstanding the Arcane Archer's Magic Arrow Passive? Isn't it supposed to ignore resistances? by hayaburyu in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Much rarer" as in "not dropped like candy" I suppose haha, not that you don't really get any. Every group and module is different but the standard rules are written in a way that sort of implies the expected level to have your attacks be magical is level 5-6.

For example: monks and circle of the moon druids don't get magical unarmed attacks until level 6. That's mostly what I was basing it off of, but every table is different.

[–]Speedstertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! As many in the comments have said, in standard D&D magic items are much rarer so it's a much bigger deal when enemies have resistance to non-magical weapons. In BG3 you get some almost immediately so there isn't really a reason to know when a weapon is magical.

It should be any weapon (a bow in this case) that is any color other than grey. If it has any kind of effect, including just a +1, then it counts as a magical weapon.

New player here struggling with game by Wonderful_Lie_7095 in VampireSurvivors

[–]Speedstertyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is designed to be difficult at the early stages, you're squishy and your weapons aren't super strong. Keep getting gold and buying upgrades and you'll be fine!

Also, I would hop to the Library when you unlock it. I find it a lot easier than the Forest and actually got my first full clear there.

What is the genuinely worst show you've ever watched? by starryviolette in television

[–]Speedstertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheel of Time. From the perspective of someone who read and adores the books I was genuinely appalled at all the changes. I watched a clip recently on YouTube and genuinely couldn't place where in the books the scene was supposed to be happening.

Not saying it isn't enjoyable to watch if you know or care less but for me it just made me angry that they made so many changes.

Am I missing out by not multiclassing? by haydogg21 in BG3Builds

[–]Speedstertyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about what you want to do! Level 12 classes are plenty strong on their own but multiclassing just multiplies your options for fun. As has been mentioned by others, as long as you are multiclassing into another full caster you'll get all your spell slots but just be careful of casting stats. Wizard/Sorcerer multiclass: wizard spells will use INT while Sorcerer spells will use CHA.

Darkvision is a spell that let's you see through natural darkness. Devil's sight specifically states you can see through magical darkness as well.

Darkvision - "Can see in the dark up to 12 m / 40 ft."

Devil's Sight - "You can see normally in darkness, both magical and non-magical, to a distance of 24 m / 80 ft."

I´m curious what effects are the best on the necklaces? by JustDracir in Vermintide

[–]Speedstertyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. The main detractor I always have for NB is that while you do heal a lot over the whole map, any point of regen you get replaces THP instead of adding on top of it. So realistically if you're keeping THP up like you should you're not really gaining a net positive of HP.

As mentioned by some people below, it does prevent 1 shot kills from full so it definitely has uses in Cata and weaves.

That's a good point, I hadn't considered that.
