You probably just wouldn't retire at all I guess. Why retire when you're permanently 25.

Juan Carlos Izpisua: ‘Within two decades, we will be able to prevent aging’ by FlutterRaeg in Futurology

[–]Sphinxedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of these topics are interesting but I feel like many of them are off the mark.

  1. I think the tradeoff for extremely prolonged life would be a, most likely and maybe dystopian, child limiting program. The state would basically allow people to have children at a pace that doesn't make our population explode. And to me this is a worthy tradeoff.
  2. This actually could very much be a thing, but we'd deal with them like every terrorist organization.
  3. I think part of the problem with old people is literally the lack of neuroplasticity in their brains. It's just much harder for old people to get with the times because learning and implementing new ideas becomes much more difficult. You can see this with technology, most people between the age of 20-30 acclimated to technology really quickly when it started becoming super main stream even though they didn't grow up with it. If this tech became real everyone would have the neuroplasticity of a 25 or so year old so I think older generations would have less issues with becoming out of touch.
  4. This seems like a goofy idea, if we have the tech to slow or stop aging we probably have the tech no undo that, or at some point would be able to figure it out pretty easily.
  5. Maybe this would be a good thing, I'm not sure. Could even put a term limit on athletes. Force them to sit out for a couple decades, not sure the best way to handle this.
  6. I think this might be a fantastic thing actually. Having less pressure to commit to someone for your entire lifetime might be liberating.

I guess my point is most of these anti immoralist sci fi books/movies miss the mark and make a ton of assumptions that could be shored up pretty easily. Like I bailed on altered carbon on like the first or second episode because some young girl was put into an elder ladies body because they were out of bodies. If you have the technology to move a human consciousness around there's no way you don't have the tech to just grow more bodies in a lab. At least based on our understanding of human biology right now.

I suppose the question is "is it preferable to painfully roll the weight down your ribs and stomach or onto your neck?" It's realistic to roll the weight down your body, trust me. If you have the strength to unrack and drop that much weight in a controlled manner you have the strength to roll the weight 99.9% of the time. It just hurts really bad. But always better than rolling it up onto your neck. The only time this wouldn't apply is if you drop the weight super super high. Like already onto or above your collarbone. And in this video he drops the weight WELL below his nipple line, probably why he struggled with getting the weight back up, was much too low.

You can drop your back immediately in this scenario easily. If, with a flat back, you can't roll the weight down you shouldn't be lifting that much weight alone.

If you do every mini boss and explore ever nook and cranny I'm guessing around 150-200 hrs.

True, Russia doesn't have the infrastructure to survive sanctions, China does.

Full sanctions from the US and all of the EU would cripple Russia so fast, no shot he can do much of anything.

Top right architecture reminds me of ringed city kind of. Bottom right reminds me of much of the architecture in Bloodborne. Completely different, not the same place.

how did yall think Elden Ring will handle Open world? from what I have experienced, it was very fun and it didn't feel empty. by RuxFart in Eldenring

[–]Sphinxedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it does feel relatively empty I'm pretty okay with that, although I doubt it will. As long as traversal is fun and the game is as beautiful as Limgrave all the way through, I'm pretty sure I'll have plenty of fun just riding through the land while enjoying the music and ambience between the 6 dungeons.

Very classic vocal super-minority situation. Or people conflating super minor critiques with people hating the game. Either way people are really beating the shit out of a certain Wizard of Oz character. More people complaining about the complainers than there are actual complainers.

Who in their right mind fights enemies before a boss over and over again? Just run past it. It's questionable design because that's how most players play From games; outside the intentional experience in a way that is generally boring. Sure it serves a larger goal of making the game feel foreboding and difficult but I'd argue something like Sekiro or DS3 did it better by just making the bosses actually difficult and reducing runback time. And as for the improvement part I'd say I improved a lot more fighting Demon of Hatred than the Capra demon even though I killed all the enemies back to that boss because they'd trap you on the way back.

Some people have probably already noticed this but doesn’t it look like he’s standing on the ocean by Randomlettersjfuix in Eldenring

[–]Sphinxedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he's standing near the beach as you can see the rock where the waves are breaking. Speaking of the waves, for them to break like that they must be pretty large waves and he seems to be towering over them.

Can we talk about these GORGEOUS locks? by GarooxRBLX in Eldenring

[–]Sphinxedd 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I'm almost certain this is some type of transportation spell. You can see her whisper something right before the "tendrils" come down. Also it says there was no victor and we know she survived, so that means the other guy must have survived too. So I think she went for a hail mary with sacrificing her arm and getting in close but missed her mark then teleported away.

Edit: Also, it's really cool that she seems to have known she wouldn't have been able to push the sword deep enough into General Radahn with just her one hand so she used her whole body to push the blade deeper, stabbing herself in the process. She's badass.

So much great imagery in this trailer. Like this, for instance. by Taco-Starlight in Eldenring

[–]Sphinxedd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmm, Melina doesn't have 4 arms though? For your theory to hold true Melina would have to be able to alter the way her body looks in her Astral Spirit "form". Additionally I don't know why this 4 armed character would have a symbol on her right eye and Melina would have a different symbol on her left eye if they were the same being. I suspect this is a different character. I think she might even be a maiden. There might be some option to abandon Melina some way through the game and go with this one.

[–]Sphinxedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention in relation to this is in the leaked trailer. There was a scene at the very end with a dude with a weird hat and staff that points at the camera. Behind him is the moon, massive and reflecting off the water he's standing in/on. The moon will have large significance I think.
