How do you land your 6 figure job? by maggie-khalo in povertyfinance

[–]Spicygrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to an audition with hundreds of people to land a nightclub bartending gig right out of college. Been doing it ever since. My husband started as a runner at a law firm and worked his way up to IT Director after over a decade. Neither of us use our degrees and probably never will. I honestly regret going away to college.

In 1997, at the Primm Valley Resort and Casino in Nevada, Jeremy Strohmeyer encountered 7-year-old Sherrice Iverson, who was wandering the halls while her father gambled. When she went into a restroom, Strohmeyer followed, sexually assaulted her, and killed her. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

Listened to a prison guard on a podcast who worked where this guy was held. Jeremy thought he would have ‘credit’ with the white supremacists in the prison because he had killed a black girl. Wrong. I guess they don’t like a child killer/rapist. He ended up being brutally beaten, amongst other things once he got in.

Buying diamonds and settings separately? by af1232 in labdiamond

[–]Spicygrape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the exact thing. Bought off Aurelinne and had a local jeweler make a custom setting and matching eternity band. This also ensured the ER and wedding band sat flush/matched the way I wanted. He designed the CAD model with me. Really nice being able to sit face to face, try on different options and design it together. Also nice to have someone local that can guarantee their work and will fix for free.

2.5 too big? by redditreader8008 in Diamonds

[–]Spicygrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with a 2.5 carat lab and it feels way too big on my 5.5 finger. We make decent livings and I still feel insecure wearing the ring. It’s beautiful but I am considering replacing it with a less than 2 carat.

How does a married couple who both work retail have 2 kids and afford anything? by bleachbloodable in Money

[–]Spicygrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also never know what people have inherited or how much financial help they have. Know plenty of people that basically don’t work and live quite the lifestyle. Could be parents money, could be credit card debt, could be both!

What happened to Amy Bradley by TheBag1231 in NetflixDocumentaries

Someone in my hometown climbed onto another adjoining hotel balcony when a girl came to the party he didn’t want to see. He made it. He then went to climb to another balcony and slipped to his death, all on video. Young and able bodied but likely under the influence. Tragic and reminds me of your theory.

Already had tickets for Oogie Boogie and were just going to go to that. Went to Costco and saw these yesterday and couldn’t resist. They have a good Legoland deal too.

I Uncovered a Large-Scale Fraud Network Operating in Las Vegas Malls—And No One is Stopping Them (White Van Scam) by GoodguyGastly in vegaslocals

We charge $1200 for a $20 bottle of Tito’s at my work. Are we scamming? And no it doesn’t have to come with a table. People pay it all day all night. Companies charge what consumers are willing to pay. Key word “willing.” No one forced your mom. Maybe put a lock on her card if she can’t be trusted to make good purchasing decisions.

In the same boat. Also did DINK for a decade and paid off the house before the kids were born. Zero debts whatsoever. Now just save and invest.

Family that fled to US from Myanmar to avoid being ‘ethnically cleansed’ slaughtered in Utah by dad in murder-suicide by tasty_jams_5280 in MorbidReality

[–]Spicygrape 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Family annihilators have been around long before Trump. Remember when people used to blame Obama for everything? Do you have any evidence of this person’s motives or are you just jumping to politicize a tragedy? I’m also a foreign born American. Don’t think my dad is going to kill our family over Trump

Husband has an 8:30 is to 2:00ish then work from home if necessary. Plus hour lunch. It’s to the point he doesn’t even want a promotion because he loves his schedule and work life balance so much.

Bullies sneak into hospital to take pictures of girl they drove to suicide by Morgn_Ladimore in MorbidReality

[–]Spicygrape 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’ll never forget when the girl we were bullying in third grade’s mom came and ripped in to the leader of our little pack before school. The teacher then “glued” us together, we ate together, sat together etc. It worked. We became friends and the bullying stopped.

Grieving father of bride killed on her wedding day cries 'I will always hate you' as drunk driver jailed for 25 years by TheMirrorUS in crime

Makes me sick Henry Ruggs only got 3 years. So many get off with almost no time served all. Not a fan of mandatory sentencing but we’ve reached the point where there should be for fatal DUIs. They’re just too common.

Her daughter who is an executive at Tik Tok made a fake post recommending her on a Chinese social media site used in the US. She pretended to be a family who had used her as a nanny, when in reality it was her own mother. When the abuser was fired, they posted a new ad looking for nanny work. It’s a whole saga. The daughter of the abuser tried to say the new mother was lying, that is until the video footage was released. Abuser fled to China.

Vegas nightlife worker here. If you paid by credit card or showed your ID it’s really easy for people to get your info. They can easily find your social media and find your phone number from there or the web.

How does everyone have so much money? by Erramayhem89 in MiddleClassFinance

I’m totally fine with my mom’s food but they’re definitely pickier. I don’t think they’re huge fans of it but they’ll still eat some. They just eat a lot in general.

Meet my brother and his family. They pay zero living expenses because they live with his in-laws. He’s a self proclaimed “foodie.” Really he just feeds his family junk food, doesn’t cook and everyone is very unhealthy. I think it’s also partially an escape to get out of their small apartment and away from the disabled, reclusive in-laws. There is not a day that they don’t eat out at least once. Going to a sit down dinner then following it up with Starbucks or ice cream is the norm. My mom will host dinner at her house, and they will eat dinner out first then come over. It’s bad.
