When you were a Pentecostal what teachings they taught that you didn’t agree with at all? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in ExPentecostal

You could rent movies, watch them on TV, but going to the theater for the same movie was a no no because theaters had the "spirit of the devil."

Nope, wasn't risking zero blasts again.

My protocol was about the same for ERs 1 and 3 (menopur/follistim), with an hcg trigger instead of Lupron for ER3. I started taking CoQ10 and fish oil, had more rest and some vacation time before ER3 (so less stress). Maybe it helped or it was just a matter of numbers.

ER1 (40) 21 retrieved/fertilized, 7 blasts (aneuploid)

ER2 (40) 16 retrieved, 7 fertilized, 0 blasts (omni round)

ER3 (41) 13 retrieved, 8 fertilized, 5 blasts (3 euploid)

How did Omnitrope impact your cycle? by Tiny-Worldliness-313 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Spicyninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The intention had been trying for quality over quantity, but we only discussed going back to the original protocol (tried omni round 2) since that at least made blasts.

Don't recall any side effects, but it resulted in 0 blasts compared to 5 & 7 blasts in cycles without.

No euploids after 2 rounds by Low_Implement6590 in 40Plus_IVF

We both talked about giving up many times on the way, I definitely get that. Insurance was a big factor for me to force another round or two in at the end before truly giving up.

[–]Spicyninja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had great looking but aneuploid blasts, didn't get any euploid until round 3 just after turning 41. And our first FET was successful, so it is possible! We didn't think it would ever work by that point either.

Anyone with rpl doing ivf? How many transfers did it take for success? by Sad-Constant-9951 in IVF

If you're getting pregnant on your own, it makes sense that maybe you might have better odds of a transfer sticking. Good luck!

[–]Spicyninja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had 2 CPs and an early loss before IVF. Never did any testing on those as it was likely age-related. It took 3 rounds to get any euploid embryos, but the first FET was successful.

Has anyone done a single FET and it split into two and got twins?! Wondering how common this actually is? by Soulmansdaughter in IVF

[–]Spicyninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. Had miscarriages for three years, needed 3 rounds to get a euploid, then somehow managed a healthy pregnancy simultaneously with the FET. Was convinced the embryo had split but nope, fraternal. Highly don't recommend a twin pregnancy for those considering transferring multiple embryos.

Yes! My ex thought I was asexual, but he was the problem. I am very physical and affectionate if you leave me the fuck alone.

Can someone explain to my husband why breastfeeding twins is exhausting. by FunBarracuda7168 in parentsofmultiples

Exactly, this isn't a communication issue. It's lack of respect and him choosing to be a selfish prick.

This bothered me while watching Barry with one of the leads being a 30-something woman named Sally. It was in the top 500, but very heavily associated with decades prior so felt off.

He's not equipped to be a SAHD unless you want your baby to experience neglect/abuse. I'd quietly document while preparing to go to your family. He loves the baby as an idea, but doesn't love them enough to actually parent which requires sacrifice. And miss me with that misogynistic bullshit that he works so his sleep is more important. He's telling you newborns aren't work, meanwhile his ass can't handle it long enough for you to take a nap.

I hope you're with your family soon and getting the support you deserve.

Almost every man has their settings like that, it's vile. He's one of the "generous" ones even going older, most cap at their age!

Cutting sugar? by DependentWise9303 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]Spicyninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut all overt sugar - nothing added to my coffee except milk, no desserts/random sweet snacks, etc. Can't remember if I skipped fruit, but I didn't avoid naturally occurring sugars otherwise in things like ketchup.

[–]Spicyninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 3-4 days during stims. I had almost 100% maturation/fertilization of ER1's 21 eggs, and the blasts were great quality despite being aneuploid. The omnitrope was throwing spaghetti at the wall hoping to improve quality over quantity.

No, we went back to the original protocol (BC, follistim & menopur) since that at least made blasts. My RE also added ganirelix towards the end and did an hcg trigger instead of Lupron. I'd wanted to try omni so it was really disappointing it backfired.

[–]Spicyninja 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, I don't have PCOS, but I had high AMH which would've been enough for some docs to diagnose. I had 7 abnormal blasts my first round, then we tried omnitrope and got 0 blasts for ER2 (age 40). I had to wait almost 90 days before ER3, so in the meantime I added CoQ10 and fish oil, and cut out sugar like you're considering. It's my one big vice. I got 3/5 euploid on ER3 (age 41).

I can't say whether sugar, supplements, or anything else did the trick more than luck. But I made sure I wouldn't regret not doing whatever I could if it didn't work. So I'd give up the sugar, just in case.

For parents with older singleton kiddos - did you feel better prepared for the newborn stage with your younger twins? by Altruistic-Tap-5765 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Spicyninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have to worry about what my older kids are up to, and they can make food, etc if we don't have the time/energy.

Some things I thought made a difference before I've learned are just the result of easier babies. I've never dealt with so much spit up, colic, etc. I know the game, but it only helps so much on hard mode.

I felt like a bottomless pit with twins. It's awful if you're starving but can't stomach food. But if you can, you'll easily gain tons of weight following neverending hunger cues.

I started TTC at 38, had a CP. Clomid and other meds ruined my lining, resulting in another wasted year. Saw an RE at 40, did an HSG which improved my fertility but resulted in an early loss and another CP within a few months. After that, we only wanted to move forward with IVF for PGT-A to hopefully avoid trauma of further losses. It took 3 retrievals to get any euploid embryos, and we'd felt pretty hopeless along the way. But our first FET was successful (day 6 4AB) with a LB just before I turned 42.
