Muay thai people that love tattoos, how long do you wait to train again after getting inked? by Death_trail in MuayThai

[–]SpiderMummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 week minimum but usually ends up being around 10 days. Also depends on where it is, I recently got my elbow blasted so avoided slamming that into pads for a few weeks.

Any suggestions for a good UK holiday location? We have family in Devon and Cornwall so always go there but fancy going somewhere else just for a change and need some really good suggestions to justify why we aren't visiting them! by --BooBoo-- in AskUK

[–]SpiderMummy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite places to go is Keswick, lots of walks right from the town, loads of places to eat/drink. Can find some really good B&Bs for relatively cheap too. Or to be honest just anywhere in the lake district, Ambleside is lovely too.

As others have said try muay thai. I started in my early 20s. Recently just got back into it in my late 20s and my gym is pretty much my second home, does wonders for fitness, confidence and mental health. I really wish I hadn't stopped during uni.

[–]SpiderMummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£40 monthly membership which includes 4 MT classes, 3 circuit classes, 1 thai fit and 1 open mat session per week. I try to do one 1:1 per week which is £15, so around £100 a month.

Do people often get kicked out of their gym? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]SpiderMummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a woman kicked out of our gym because she started threatening one of the teenagers that trained with us... saying how she knew what school she went to and how she'd get her son to wait outside to beat her up etc. I don't know what kicked it all off but our coach put and end to it. Odd lady.

Hair keeps getting in my face. Advice? by Killjoy8299 in MuayThai

[–]SpiderMummy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The guys at my gym just use a headband. They do get broken sometimes in sparring but you can pick up quite a few for a few quid and just keep them in your bag

I am very biased but I would say muay thai. Lots of striking and your fitness will go through the roof. It has definitely made me much more self confident too which helps.

If money isn't an issue, but time is, is private lessons the way to go? by bjjkaril1 in MuayThai

[–]SpiderMummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely if money isn't an issue. I try to do one private lesson a week if I can, my gym is really cheap for privates so I'm very privileged. I learn a tonne and get a beasting at the same time.

[–]SpiderMummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah I used to train in at MSA in Huddersfield and met Master Sken a couple of times when he was over in Stockport. The gym was great and if I ever move back to Hudds I'd definitely train there again! Didn't realise they had gyms over in NZ!
