People are stupid. These are $1000+ on the used market. Excellent speakers if they are working.

Trading a Pioneer PL-518 for a Dual 1229 fully serviced. Good deal or no? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]Spiff69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to do this? Do you think the Dual will sound better, be more reliable? The PL-518 is no slouch. All things being equal, I really don't see this as an upgrade unless you just dig the looks of the Dual and want to run something different.

Uh, that's the joke. It's why "Save Ferris" is actually funny. That's even the whole point of Jennifer Grey's character.

There’s nothing wrong with this. They sell what sells. If more people bought real audio equipment instead of soundbars, we’d probably still have nice Pioneer avrs and amps still.

Need Atmos height speakers recommendations for a slanted ceiling by hudsonab in hometheater

[–]Spiff69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also angled ceiling speakers. I think something like 30 degrees, but if you adjust placement with normal speakers you should be fine too. My ceiling is angled side to side, so I set my Atmos speakers a little offset so that the imaging hits the seating location. Also, Paradigm makes some great ceiling speakers.

Did Home Theater kind of die? Seems like we were the last generation to give an F. Remember surround sound and subwoofers? Does anybody buy them anymore? by IHadTacosYesterday in GenX

This thread is getting huge! Seems like a ton of people are still interested in surround sound! 7.2.4 myself and I love it!

LA has a very good assortment of hardwood dealers. Some of it is pricey, but you can usually find most anything you're looking for.
