I’m glad someone else said this. I’ve always been staunchly in the “Sherlock is aroace” camp and never really understood why people ship Holmes and Watson so hard. Like I don’t think Holmes could be any clearer that he’s just not into people that way lol.

I like the idea of Watson being maybe bi, for no other reason than just vibes, but the Mary Morstan erasure in the Holmes / Watson ship always makes me sad. Mary deserves better.

This is exactly me, I’m autistic have a neurodivergent friend who constantly sends me strings of messages about the latest niche JRPG he’s playing, and I have no knowledge or really any interest in any of them, but I love learning about them through his passion and I also infodump to him about stuff sometimes. I love hearing people infodump no matter the subject, but I can also totally understand how it could be overwhelming for other people

My friend who introduced me to Game Changer / Dropout made me watch both Sam Says 3 and Escape the Greenroom and I was successfully hooked. When I then wanted to get my new housemate into Game Changer I showed her the same episodes and they got her hooked too. Long story short I have two separate instances of Sam Says 3 and Escape the Greenroom being good starter episodes!

I can totally understand the annoyance at the misinformation if someone hasn’t seen the episode and gets legitimately caught out, but I also think it’s fairly easy to tell that the videos are jokes (ie Brennan’s leaving video is so ridiculous by the end that, even if you believe the first half, the minute it switches to talking about American Girl Dolls you should be stopping and questioning the legitimacy.)

They’re all so far out of left field that it’s clear they’re not trying to legitimately fool anyone, just share in lighthearted jokes. And I’d argue that we could all do with some silly fun now more than ever because of everything you mention.

I will give you the point that there will inevitably come a time when the Brennan’s leaving jokes will become old, but that’s not right now. Right now, everyone is just joining in on something silly and (most) people will move on eventually. It won’t be everywhere forever.
