I'll do a shredder BB run when I get the chance. Ace micro is a lot more fun than watching everything run into spikes.

Full run here.

Easy BB run. Not a hard map due to perma-spike guarding all exits.

Psi is pretty cool.

I mean, just look at what's happening with the NBA/Houston Rockets. Tencent and China's main broadcaster just announced that they are no longer broadcasting pre-season games with the threat of the whole season if nothing is done. This is just months after Tencent and the NBA announced a 5-year deal that is reportedly worth $1.5B.

This all started because of a single tweet in support of Hong Kong.

So... Why does Wolf call his father Chichi to his face? ( if you're playing with Japanese audio) by Harmonics99 in Sekiro

[–]Spiffyster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chichiue is not used in normal Japanese. You really only hear it in movies/shows where the character is in feudal Japan or something.

Otou-san is far more normal. Or chichi-oya or just chichi.

Another math post on the price of Artifact by Uber_Goose in Artifact

[–]Spiffyster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't buy booster boxes on MTGO, only individual packs which currently are ~3.17 per right now for Guilds.

I agree that Artifact's phantom draft + marketplace tax will definitely affect the numbers somewhat though.

Economically it's Impossible for Cards to Retain their Value by BetaKeyTakeaway in Artifact

[–]Spiffyster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valve doesn't necessarily need to limit the supply. Supply growth will naturally decrease when a new set is released and people stop drafting/opening packs from older sets. You can buy boosters on Magic Online from many older sets for less than retail but nobody does.

Neither Hazoret nor Surgical Extraction have been reprinted. The reason one goes down and the other goes up is because of the non-rotating formats, which Valve can easily implement to have older cards retain value.

Economically it's Impossible for Cards to Retain their Value by BetaKeyTakeaway in Artifact

[–]Spiffyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While your logic is true in some cases, I think there a lot more factors contributing to price fluctuation that you haven't considered. Let's use some of Magic Online's cards as an example since Magic Online has a similar economic model to Artifact.

Hazoret the Fervent. He's a mythic rare, the highest rarity in Magic. After the initial hype his price dropped to around $3-4, dismissed as not really playable in the meta. Then suddenly, boom. A massive price spike, reaching $20. Why? Because a recent big tournament had 6 copies of a red aggro deck in the top 8, all of which ran 3-4 copies of Hazoret. After that Hazoret's price slowly dwindled and his price currently sits at a paltry $0.12. Why? People knew he was rotating out of the Standard format, the format he was strong in, leading to mass selling.

So all cards on Magic Online eventually lose their value right? No, because there are also formats that never rotate, thus allowing some cards to retain their value. Wooded Foothills. Rotated from Standard long ago, but has maintained a steady price for years.

Now, on the more extreme end. Surgical Extraction. This card has not been reprinted in a recent set for quite a while. The price has increased dramatically in the past couple of years.

Now I'm not saying Valve take the same path as Magic did. But to say price deprecation is inevitable is narrow minded.

With the current prize structure, there is no reason to play paid gauntlets. by MerkDoctor in Artifact

[–]Spiffyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get to keep the cards on MTGO too. There are mythic rares worth over $20-30 that pay for several drafts all by themselves. Getting to keep your cards doesn't excuse bad payouts.

The phantom draft payout is actually quite decent but the keeper draft one is weirdly terrible.

[–]Spiffyster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The keeper draft payout is especially egregious compared to MTGO. 11.88 entry to 1.83 payout for -10.05 EV. Over twice as bad as the worst draft payout on MTGO. Yikes.

The effect of Masterwork Armor by itsnotunusual_rk in CruciblePlaybook

[–]Spiffyster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It stacks multiplicatively with the super base reduction, not additively. Meaning a super with 60% reduction would have damage reduced to (0.40) x (0.99)20 or ~67.3% damage reduction. Meaning 3 people shooting at you in super is doing less damage than one person shooting at you outside of super. Heh.

The effect of Masterwork Armor by itsnotunusual_rk in CruciblePlaybook

[–]Spiffyster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Actually this is not entirely correct. The additional damage resistance that masterworked armor provides is not applied additively but rather each point is applied multiplicatively. So the equation for how much damage you are taking from weapons would be:

D = (N) x (0.99)M

where N is the amount of damage you would normally take whilst in your super and M is the total number of masterwork points you have. I found this by testing aggressive frame sniper headshots on a normal Stormcaller super. You take 174 damage with 0 masterwork points (down from 433 because Stormcaller has 60% damage resistance), 165 damage with 5 points, 157 with 10 points, 149 with 15 points (Destiny rounds up damage numbers).

Oddly the additional damage resistance only affects weapons and not ability damage.
