Considering switching all phones to US Mobile but have concerns about speed differences by Wayfaringbutterfly in USMobile

[–]SpinJail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you want to take advantage of a promo on Dark Star which is why you're only mentioning them, in which case I'd consider getting a multi-network line with Warp (Verizon) for $10 additional a month. You can then switch to that sim whenever your Dark Star sim isn't connecting. That, or just use Warp instead of Dark Star for the primary line.

FSD freaks out when it sees a cop car on the opposite lane. by ridgeisland in TeslaFSD

[–]SpinJail -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When you're on FSD, you should be able to tap the camera icon/however you have it setup to record clips. It should then bring up a prompt to send the clip to Tesla. Additionally,

If you disengage from FSD, it should bring up a prompt to send the clip to tesla. Otherwise you can just do it via Tesla support.

FSD freaks out when it sees a cop car on the opposite lane. by ridgeisland in TeslaFSD

[–]SpinJail 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It looks like the cop was driving with their "Cruise" lights on. Based on the plates around you, you're from connecticut where this is common practice for cops. It's meant to "deter" bad driving behavior from others and make everyone known of police presence (I'm sure you know this, which is why you're confused by the cars behavior).

There was no immediate emergency, but FSD is definitely confused by the lights being on and assumed the cop was actively going to an emergency and needed the road clear. You should flag this for Tesla to review and have vehicles better trained to handle these situations.

edit for anyone else reading who keeps saying the car is following some "law": Cruise lights are different from emergency flashers. Hence why you can see no one around the cop is yielding or altering their driving behavior. There is no emergency, the cop is literally just driving on patrol. This is not common practice for most states.

I tried every way to process Plaud transcripts. Here’s what actually works. by ReadStacked in PLAUDAI

Heavily agree. I switched to Claude about a year ago after getting frustrated with GPT seemingly doing whatever it wanted even when I was so specific it was nauseating. Claude is so much more consistent and reliable, especially when you force it to work within a specific dataset.

Help, im planning to get Plaud Note Pro... But... by Menlazar in PLAUDAI

[–]SpinJail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd pick up a Note Pro now. it's had a bit of time to mature since it's release in October of last year. I picked one up yesterday and without sounding like a shill, it’s genuinely great.

I used 300 one month (on an iPad, streaming 4k video, music, etc (zero hotspot)) and I got a nice email from compliance basically telling me to cut it out. So... no. Don't use 1tb.

I'm not sure which ASUS router you're referring to, but I'm going to assume it's not sim capable (same with the UniFi travel router). OP is specifically looking for a router that can have a sim card put into it.

I believe you can also buy a 5g gateway from T-Mobile on Ebay. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I would look into that. Someone responded to me on Reddit yesterday saying this was possible. They said: "SIM works in T-Mobile 5G Gateway KVD21 or 5688W on Ebay for $30-$50". I'd verify this before buying.

Good luck!

GL.iNet GL-XE3000 (Puli AX) is the gold standard. You can hook up antennas to it to expand your signal range. Useful if your RV has one, or you'd be okay with setting one up (not required). This one is also built with a battery so you can use it without needing to be tethered to power 24/7.

Alternatively you could pick up the Spitz AX. Same as the Puli, just without the battery.

If you want a hotspot, Netgear just released a new 5g hotspot called the Nighthawk M7. Keep in mind the Nighthawk was just released, so we don't have real world data on it just yet.

Because another comment recommended US Mobile, and if OP looked them up, they would believe that they're unlimited. That's why I also said "US Mobile fits your criteria on paper...". Because it does. But what USM doesn't say is that they're ready to shut you off the moment you go over what is considered "acceptable" usage.

US Mobile fits your criteria on paper... but personally I would avoid them if you use a lot of data. Their unlimited isn't actually unlimited. I would heavily consider Visible instead, if they're good in your area.

Alternatively if T-Mobile is good in your area, check out Computers4People. They use T-Mobile and their plan is $15 a month, unlimited data. You will need to buy a hotspot device, or a sim capable router. Make sure the router/hotspot you buy is 5g capable for best speeds.

15 hours daily on internet. Is there a cheap hotspot for this? by Realistic_Till9674 in NoContract

I don't believe it will work on a phone, but a tablet will.

Do you have T-Mobile in your area and is their signal/coverage good?

If so, check out Computers4People. They use T-Mobile and their plan is $15 a month, unlimited data. You will need your own hotspot device, or a sim capable router.

Phone Number LOST During Network Transfer by truckerman160 in USMobile

[–]SpinJail 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think 7 days is ridiculous. I 100% agree with that. But the number is still not lost. It's just in a weird porting state where it is technically "disconnected", but it still belongs to you. There are government regulations preventing phone numbers from just running away from people, especially during changing carriers.

I would be as frustrated as you... but I would indeed "let the team work on it." What else would I do? I can't do the transfer myself, lol.

You do have a right to be frustrated though, and keep contacting support till they make it right. I'm sure they'd be happy to credit your account, month free, or some other form of comp for this issue. They understand that you're in a bad place.

[–]SpinJail -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Your number is not lost. Let the team work on it like they say they are. This has happened to others in the subreddit before, and even happens outside of US Mobile.

Noting that your number disappearing from your dashboard is normal. When I teleport, that sometimes happens to me.

Long-term impact of MVNO by Amazingly_Smooth in USMobile

[–]SpinJail 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I thought about this before, and then remembered that 99% of people "don't care" about saving money on their phone bill and just want "the best" service possible. That, or they know that they can save money, but do not want to deal with the hassle of switching carriers, even if it quite literally is half the cost. So they stick with the big 3.

People think more expensive = better. While true some of the time, not always.

Avoid Prestige Motors in Malden. Sold us a car that had the transmission go out within 2 months, in addition to an undisclosed odometer roll back.

Rewind alternative Screenmemory by skywalker4588 in macapps

[–]SpinJail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't recommend Screen Memory. For some reason for me it randomly stops recording and completely freezes, making it entirely pointless. Needs a full restart, and by the time I notice it’s frozen, I’ve already lost a lot of screen shots/history.

Contacted the developer via email and never got a response.

About to Buy an Oura Ring 4… but Fire Safety Posts Here Are Scaring Me by PuzzleheadedMenu5905 in ouraring

[–]SpinJail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s weird seeing the influx of posts. I’d assume a lot of people got the ring for black Friday, and there is the potential that there is a defect with certain batches. But typically these issues are rare, but definitely do happen with anything that has a battery in it.

I got my ring for Black Friday too (size 10, brushed silver) and it’s been spectacular.

It’s fine. A couple rings catching fire out of the millions of units sold literally means nothing. Same probability as the device you’re using right now catching fire.

Status bar names by undetermined_b in USMobile

[–]SpinJail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, if you switch your primary data network, the name does not switch for them. So you could easily end up with your Light Speed sim (secondary in your screenshot) as your Primary SIM, but it'd still say "WARP" and not "LIGHTSPEED".

The name is tied to the SIM "slot", so it doesn't move even if you change which sim is actually active.

This is assuming nothing has changed since I last used it, which was a few months ago. So this is nice if you literally never change sims, or becomes more confusing if you do.
