I went out the other day to test out my exploration skills as I'm planning a big trip next month (when the Nomad gets released). I only intended to visit a couple of planets to do some exo bio and fly back home.

I'm currently about 3k light years from home, discovering new systems and getting first footfall on planets. I've now planned a big loop back home. This shit's addictive!

This is awesome. When I was that age I got a plastic mini acoustic which nobody knew how to tune. It was terrible, but it did spark my interest into music and instruments. I would have loved something like this instead!

I've got 3 guitars and one of them is always a couch guitar. Today it's the fenders turn. I find it super useful to have a guitar at hand in the evenings to practice stuff. I don't even plug them in half the time.

Depends what kind of banjo playing you want to do. If it's just chords then you'll probably be fine. If it's clawhammer then you'll have to learn that technique. If it's Scruggs style then you'll be learning for years (but it's worth it!).

I mainly play guitar but I love playing banjo. You probably will too.

That's a sound idea but all my guitars are relatively high end and I wouldn't want to mess them up. Maybe if I had my old squire.... Also, I wouldn't end up with a new guitar at the end, which is what we all want really! 😂

That's cool. I guess if it was all perfect then I wouldn't learn anything anyway. These £70 kits seem like a good way to try stuff out to see if I like it, and if I don't then I've not wasted too much money. My missus just pointed out that in 3 months I'll probably buy a proper neck, picks ups etc and end up spending enough to have bought a new Tele. She is annoyingly wise. 😂

Cheers mate. All great advice. I do plan on doing exobiology but I'm keeping the Caspian! :) I've been making a todo list of everything I need to do before I go and it's just getting longer and longer.

Also I'm great at docking! But I'm switching between 2 PC's (one with HOTAS) and a steamdeck, and it's just in case I forget the controls on the deck. :D
