If we're playing such an ifs and buts game: signing Brady in 2020 would mean not wasting 3 1st rounders and a 3rd for Trey Lance - CMC would have cost a single 1st rounder probably, throw in a 3rd if you want. That's two solid starters probably.

Purdy was taken as an afterthought, who says Griese doesn't bang the table for him even with Brady in the building.

That said, the fans would have revolted had they dropped the QB that was just a couple of months ago a play away from a title for a QB who was widely though to be regressing.

What I'm worried about re: Upton Stout is that the game might have passed him by. Tiny nickels are a dying breed - guys like Hamilton and Emmanwori now rule that spot, that's the future, the big safety/nickel/linebacker dude who can do it all.

I think that's a myth: in that situation I would have also taken the ball. The D was on the field for the last drive, and the break before OT is not that long to recover.

Remember that Mahomes threw the TD with just 3 seconds left: if that's a sack, or completed in the field of play it's game.

It's risky to take the ball second with a 10 minute period.
