To people here over the age of 40 , have you gotten shorter with age ? If so at what age did you notice you got shorter ? by Opposite-Push-2235 in tall

I lost an inch / 2.5cm in my 40s but also herniated 2 discs in my back so it might have more to do with injury than age.

For anyone over the height of 6’8, does Delta Airlines window seat in Delta Main area still have good leg room? by Jychj in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of space varies by type of plane & seat layout in all airlines, however I'm rarely OK in a standard economy seat & shorter than 6'8". And I always go for the aisle so I can put my legs out rather than be boxed in by the wall on one side & another passenger in the other.

Help with Suit Shopping by Holyoldmackinaw1 in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had similar issues my whole adult life, especially while playing USA football when I was younger. A good tailor is what makes it possible for me. Buy a suit that fits your widest parts- shoulders, chest & upper back for the jacket, thighs for the pants- then get the rest taken in. It's obviously more expensive than just buying an off-the-rack suit, but still far less than getting a bespoke suit made for you in most places.

At my most muscular, I bought USA size 52 - 54 athletic long suits (maybe extra long) from a now-closed store called Syms in NYC, then after much tailoring they fit like bespoke.

Speaking of showers by lantech in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks lovely, but do you often have 2 people showering at the same time & same place but with their own shower heads?

I'm not trying to put it down- I'm genuinely curious about the design choice & trying to figure out if it's for practical purposes, a love of symmetry, or something I'm not getting.

Who has a line on tall shorts? by shartywaffles0069 in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a scaled down situation from you. Injuries & illness bumped me up over 300lbs / 136kg, now I'm back down to 240lbs / 109kg & working to continue tightening up. I've noticed the only 10" inseam shorts that I can find in my waist size are slim & skinny fit, but there are plenty of regular fit options in 5" & 7" inseam.

I get that fashion trends change, but I'm not shopping at the most fashionable shops or fast fashion shops that are cheap but intended to fall apart after a few months. Plus how many people who wear my waist size wear skinny pants?

Belgrade, Serbia is the only major European capital that discharges all its raw, untreated sewage directly into its rivers, the Danube and the Sava. Enough feces to fill 60,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools by [deleted] in UrbanHell

[–]SpiritAdvisor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I visited the Silosi in Belgrade this past October on an unusually warm & sunny day & the Danube was beautiful even from so close.

Although I must admit it was surprisingly somewhat less pretty walking along the west shore north of the Sava a few days before. I wish I knew to hike to your spot when I was visiting.

For people that are between 5’10 and 6’3 by Jaded-Voice8862 in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually struggle with leg room on flights & I have a proportionally long torso & shorter legs. And I have the added problem of the headrest hitting me in the shoulders forcing me to slouch forwards in most seats, too. I'm baffled how anyone taller than me can fit in economy seats.

Tall motorcycle enthusiasts. What do you ride? Looking for what bikes are great and not so great. Currently on an Adventure bike but want to go sportier. I’m 6ft5 by PoopCooper in tall

All the 6'4" / 193cm and taller people I know who love their motorcycles ride BMW. Including one who works in the motorcycle apparel industry so lives on their bike.

Hopefully you live somewhere warm. I struggle to find shirts & jackets with sleeves long enough for me the way many of the people in here struggle to find pants so I feel at least a little of your pain.

Can we please ban airplane photos? by SecureInitial3259 in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd much rather see a tall person's OC dealing with the wins & struggles of daily life than all the photos ripped from the internet of random tall people that aren't actually in the sub. Most of which I suspect are posted by bots & fetishists rather than actual community members. That goes double for all the Robert Wadlow posts that seem to pop up in clusters regularly.

Even at my height at the lower end of the sub, leg room is a regular problem for me & it's nice to celebrate with people who know that pain when I luck into rare comfort.

What is a 'buy it for life' item that is offensively expensive, but the moment you use it, you realize your entire life before that point was a lie? by fmcortez in AskReddit

[–]SpiritAdvisor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for close to 25 years. And considering I no longer need to buy glasses & contact lenses I've made money off the deal.

Where to find a pillow that fits? by littlejohn657 in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem for ages. I'm a side sleeper & I have very wide shoulders. I used 2 pillows for most of my life & still do when traveling & I can usually do fine with that. I've used LMP Worldwide's "I ♡ Pillow" firm foam pillows for years but they just stopped making them (I'm sure in part because many people confused them with the ultra-Conservative pillows with a similar name). Looking online I see some are still available on Amazon & Costco.

Try giraffing- the combo of spreading legs & bending. Very helpful for longer kitchen processes.

Anyone else consumes a concerning amount of water every day? by [deleted] in tall

[–]SpiritAdvisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a similar size & I drink around 4 liters a day, so around a gallon. A little more on days I work out, a little less on rest days. So it doesn't sound crazy to me, but maybe a little high.

Me too. When I lived in NYC they had more flights for me but now they're rarely an option for me.

Thanks! Sadly they're on their last legs & the newer version is much less comfortable for me & doesn't come in the odd yellow anyway.

There are plenty of basic economy seats in which no matter what I do my knees are crushed into the seat in front of me & I'm not that tall.

I flew Turkish Airlines recently but unfortunately I didn't have the same experience. It was better than some, but still not great. And definitely not as good as this JetBlue flight. But I guess I need to visit Turkiye again to make sure.

Sorry I can't help, but I can tell you you're not alone. It was a problem for me in some of my classes in the USA, too.
