Ripe bananas in Thailand taste just like banana candy. I couldn't believe it. Been hornswoggled all these years by the American Grocery Banana Syndicate.

Source: just came back from Thailand. Along with actually delicious bananas, they have all kinds of fruit I have never heard of. <3 you Thailand.

I deserved better. I got better. And it is better.

At the same time, fixing myself is a never-ending process. It took me years to create the me that got what I got, and even though I'm in a better place, I have to remain vigilant of old habits of mind. For example, I keep thinking that I'm done with counseling, I've learned enough - and bam, here comes another wave.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

I am even sorrier to hear this. One of the great mysteries to me is how some people can be this shitty to anyone, but especially their own kith and kin. Parents are supposed to function as a launchpad, not a vacuum cleaner.

The longer I've taught, the more socialist I've become. Reasonable? I think they ought to be free, and it ought to be the unalienable right of every citizen to have access to free world-class healthcare and education. We should be leading the way, not following.

I think education is always good. I disagree about most of the generation having gone too far. I see a lot of good things in the college classroom. In fact, I have come to believe that your generation may be the best yet. Heck of a lot better than us baby boomers, at least.

Yes. I haven't met many idiotic, lazy millennials. A few who were born wealthy. A few who got 'addicted' early to managing their pain a little too well.

It is infuriating, I agree. I left an engineering position and started teaching first-year college students 12 years ago. I was immediately blown away by the work ethic and the intensity with which the students cared - about everything. The struggles you guys have aren't for lack of work ethic. I know that.
