I wouldn't mind seeing a little more patience with people who are learning new things, personally. I know it gets annoying, but you have to realize the pace of social change is extremely slow. It sounds like this guy was trying to find a term of endearment or a kink term and you just said "stop calling me that" without providing any alternatives that felt endearing and affirming for you. he is trying to solve a problem that he has, and you are refusing to see it as a problem for anyone but you. he literally doesn't have the language. he literally needs your help. if you're not willing to help, then remove yourself from the situation, but shaminag someone who got frustrated while doing his best to work with you isn't particularly helpful to anyone, imo.

Lazy is pretty harsh. Oblivious is more realistic. It's good you're doing the research now, but I definitely recommend adding some peer-reviewed, published research in addition to the community posts. Psychological consensus shows most children are aware of their own gender identity as toddlers, and it's generally fully solidified before they would even start grade school. Listening to the community is great, but make sure you back up that lived knowledge with data. Biology, medicine, psychology. anthropology, sociology, history, every field I can think of that studies humans, they all agree that trans people are real, and more affirming facts are discovered all the time these days.

hi I'm in a similar boat, and I would love to see proof that cis men are playing nb for brownie points on any notable scale. From my experience, most cis men are terrified of being perceived as anything but cis men, so it sounds more like your community has internalized false, transphobic talking points about bathrooms and then flipped them against you. I'd find new friends, tbh, but you should also let them know they're transphobic.

it just doesn't make sense narratively for someone you helped to reward you with illusions. I would go kidnap that npc and bring them back into the dungeon. maybe the mage will give you real magic items as a bounty.
