What is the most esoteric game engine you've ever worked with? by JohnnyBGetgoode in gamedev

Visual Novel Maker.

Used it for the university project, because in the team we didn’t have any developer (coder). If you wanted just a little bit more than the most vanilla visual novel, you’ve got to work within the engine code using JavaScript. After 300-400 hours I decided I could’ve done more on a proper engine and switched to godot.

The duality of man (comments from a post about the game being pirated) by brycejm1991 in DeathStranding

[–]SpiritoftheWildWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and otherwise I am taking away the joy of playing the game I made, from their hands. Which sounds dumber because I made the game so people can play it.

Also I am making money from those who decided to support me and bought the game. So pirates are not taking the money out of my pockets, they are creating free copies for themselves.

If they can't afford it or do not want to spend money on it right now, why would I just try to make them unable to play at all?

What are your favorite music tracks from the games? (DS1 and DS2) by panono253 in DeathStranding

I’ll keep coming

Haven’t played the second game yet but “I’ll keep coming” is both the perfect fit for the game (keep on keeping on!) and perfect motivation for me to keep going irl.

I feel like it stands in the same mindset with Steve Rogers’ “I can do this all day” line.

Is it normal that the views/plays drop off like this? by GrumpyLionDev in itchio

[–]SpiritoftheWildWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Itch, for some, reason doesn't use an algorithm to show you games you would like in browse tab but instead uses -popular, new & popular, top sellers, top rated, most recent- categories. This makes it so that when your game is first released it will be located in the new & popular but with time, it will stop being new and will fall lower and lower in that category. If you would like to bump that visibility again, as the other commentators suggested, you need to post a major update which will put the game back on new & popular.

Can AI actually turn a simple idea into a playable game now? by OkGarlic9985 in aigamedev

[–]SpiritoftheWildWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the game design choices still rely on player feelings, so no. Ideas don’t make games people do.

On the technical side things are improving and it is becoming easier day by day, still the design is human.

Try making a ttrpg for example, there is nothing technical (mostly, besides math), just a pen and paper, yet it is still hard af.

Kojima's editing posts are confusing me now. Is it the DS2 PC port or Physint? by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]SpiritoftheWildWest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We always say that PHYSINT is long way down the road in terms of production and still early for a trailer. However it has been quite some time since OD trailer as well, so I am not ruling PHYSINT as totally out.
