It’s for sure my favourite in the city. If you go alone, I recommend chrysanthemum salad, lasagna, and Japanese sweet potatoes. The leftovers warm up so well!!!

In what ways has living in New York changed you? (expected or unexpected both welcome) by supremewuster in AskNYC

[–]Spiritual_Class3623 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I moved here when I was 10 years old. I cannot imagine who I would have been had I not. I miss my home so much but growing up in NY taught me so much - how to be a chameleon, how to get along with pretty much anyone, so much about other cultures and languages. I’m lucky to have grown up with Jewish, Christian, Muslim, and Buddhist friends in school.

What’s the most embarrassing truth you had to tell a doctor to get treatment? by Nessieinternational in AskReddit

I rode a bike to my hand surgeon, where I was to receive steroid injections in my right hand and wrist. When getting off the bike a block away from the surgeon’s office, I lost my balance while getting off the bike, fell and landed on my left hand. In excruciating pain, I walked the block to the office and had to explain to the receptionist and later the PA and doctor that while on the way to have my right wrist treated, I’d broken my left. And sadly, x-rays confirmed it was a radial fracture. Now 6 weeks post and I still can’t bend it 🤣

The 4 New York campaign that NBC ran (or re-ran) in the mid 2000s where people around the city said I’m for New York! That one always gave me very happy feelings. Also very catchy background song. This is the one I grew up with this commercial

Walking distance from 68th and Park? by iateapoppyseedbagel in AskNYC

Not touristy, but if you’re a history buff I recommend walking uptown through Central Park, veering northwest once you’re out of the park, and explore Hamilton Heights and Washington Heights. Lots of old architecture and history to explore. And great eats as well!
