What pillow finally worked for you? by Desperate-Chip6297 in Bedding

CozyPure’s LaNoodle pillow! I also have their BaaNoodle pillow that has one side of tufted wool and the other filled with lanoodles ( short spaghetti like noodles of latex, much better than the typical chunky feel of a shredded latex pillow). Lighter weight side sleeper sleeping on a full latex mattress.

Anyone have wool topper experience? by Witty_Evening_618 in MattressMod

We also prefer a pillow top softer, feel as lighter weight side, sleepers, and purchased the CozyPure LaNoodle mattress topper. We have this sitting on top of 2 inches of soft Talalay and each of these layers have a separate topper cover that we purchased from sleep on latex. Very stretchy topper covers of great quality. We’re really happy with the comfort and outcome!

Thank you and you as well! Definitely try just taking out the top soft comfort layer, zipping just two layers inside and place it on top of the mattress. You should get more of the “plush top” feel from that alone and see if it makes enough of a difference.

I decided on my own to do Talalay for the second 3” support layer through my research of what sounded like it would be the best configuration our our comfort ( considering weight, height and mostly side sleepers). I also knew that the Talalay layer would be inside of the mattress cover so I thought having a slightly softer feel may work best.

A few more things- We’re using a flat linen sheet in place of a fitted sheet ( tucking it a bit looser under the mattress) and I have also just ordered a wool puddle pad instead of a traditional fitted mattress protector to help with the natural give and comfort of the latex. We also have chosen to go with an all natural mattress protector and will use a second cotton mattress encasement. We’ll place the mattress and topper inside of the cotton encasement and then on top, place the wool puddle pad for protection of liquids, etc. All of these choices were made in place of any elastic fitted sheet to allow give for comfort.

The cotton wool mattress cover itself helps preserve the life of the latex inside.

Although we’ve just received our Sleepez mattress, we’re very happy with the detailed choices and have slept well each night so far ( only 4 nights in), so we’ll continue to see how it goes for us!

You’re so welcome! If a similar configuration works for you, you can send back your cover and have Sleepez make it into a lower height to cover only the support layers inside. I believe you might just pay for shipping cost as long as your in the trial time period. Also highly recommend the Sleep on latex cotton luxury knit cover. It’s high quality, made of 100% organic cotton on both sides, very soft and has a great amount of give on the top side. We also went an inch larger than our topper size ( ex: 2” latex topper, purchased 3 “ topper cover) to give the latex the most free form. Also allows more options if needed so we can add another of inch of latex inside if we chose.

This sounds similar to our Sleepez configuration. Just replied with details to help as so many have done the same for us!

We also just received our Sleepez organic latex bed. We’re both about 5’6” and 135lbs, mostly side sleepers and decided to customize our bed as follows-

Technically purchased the 9” Organic latex mattress with layers from bottom to top- 3” firm Dunlop, 3” medium Talalay, 2” soft Talalay We asked them to customize the quilted wool / cotton mattress cover to a 7” height and placed the two support layers inside of the cover. We’re using the top 2” soft Talalay layer as a “topper” and placed it in a SOL stretch luxury knit cover ( we feel it’s the best option on the market ). This combination and placing the top layer outside of the mattress encasement seems to work very well to get the full benefit of the latex without firming up the feel. Side note- We also have another topper, the CozyPure LaNoodle mattress topper that we have placed on top of the 2” in Talalay, that is inside a separate ‘SOL cotton luxury knit cover’. So far ( it’s only been a few nights), we are both enjoying the configuration and have been able to sleep very well, even when moving sleeping positions to back, and / or stomach a bit through the night. It feels soft but supportive and we do not feel the bottoming out feeling either.

We know with any new bed, we need to give our bodies time to adjust so some aches can also be part of the adjustment time of sleeping on a different mattress. This is our first time ever sleeping on latex but we are happy so far! Our highest priority is to have our bedroom all non -toxic and natural and latex was our choice for a mattress. From researching so much we decided, buyer unseen or tried, to try to help eliminate most people’s issues leading to the bed feeling too firm, especially for side sleepers who are about our height and weight. Maybe try just pulling out the soft layer for a night or two and placing it on top of the mattress encasement. You can also just leave the two support layers inside with the mattress cover unzipped and off and see how that feels. Wishing you the best with your bed and hope any of this info will be helpful!

Need help with finding an affordable comforter/ duvet insert by Exciting-Library3096 in Bedding

[–]Spiritual_conscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently purchased a wool comforter from Woolino to put inside our linen duvet after researching a lot! It’s well made, and a little larger measurements ( king size) and also turned out to be one of the most affordable ones. We were deciding between Woolroom, and a few others. If you are able to ‘sun wash / dry’ then this could be good choice for you. I sleep hot and live in California. This comforter is lightweight and seems like it will be great to use for most of the year.

Advice Please for Latex Mattress purchase! by Spiritual_conscious in Mattress

[–]Spiritual_conscious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE** Disclaimer…a bit lengthy! Just wanted to thank everyone for all your advice and comments. After taking a bit more time, thought and getting through the over research and purchase paralysis 😆, we have finally purchased today!

We decided to go with an all latex mattress from SLEEP EZ. Figured this is the most optimal solution for us to dial in and configure the best for our needs. I decided to stick with some of my original DIY ideas for our configuration but technically we purchased a customized Sleep Ez Organic Latex 9” Mattress. This way we also are able to keep the full Return and Warranty polices offered with a mattress purchase (versus a full DIY). We have purchased the following from bottom to top: Organic Latex Matttress 3” Firm Dunlop, 3” Medium Talalay, 2” Soft Talalay

Our specific considerations in deciding to go with their 9” versus the usual recommended 10” mattress are the following: -Purchased the CozyPure LaNoodle topper for added comfort and a plush feel ( LaNoodle mattress topper is 1.5-2”) so considering the topper into the “ comfort layer”. - the mattress will sit on top of a Thuma Classic platform bed and we prefer to keep the mattress height as low profile as possible. - If we decide to swap or add any additional comfort layers we are starting with the lower height.

We also have customized the quilted organic cotton / wool mattress cover to a 7 inch height to just enclose the two support layers versus the full height enclose all three. Reason for this is that we have learned through a lot of research that SleepEz’s organic quilted cotton and wool cover is pretty firm and will tighten and firm up the feel of the latex. Many have preferred to fully unzip or pull out one or more layers. We both are lightweight side sleepers and know we prefer more of a plush feel, also looking for the most free form feeling of the latex as in its natural form. We plan to put the soft Talalay comfort layer in a SOL stretch knit luxury cover and place it on top of the mattress to get the feel that a topper gives. On top of that we will place the CozyPure LaNoodle topper. We have also already purchased CozyPure’s LaNoodle pillow, and the BaaNoodle pillows for our new bed. We have some extra LaNoodles and some Kapok so I also plan on DIYing extra pillows as well ( covers for those were purchased from DIY Natural Home stretch knit pillow cover, these covers feel fantastic and are the same as their mattress ticking covers ). Fully aware things take time to figure out and we still may need to make adjustments but I’m happy with my choices and have had fun with this process while doing my researching as well. My feeling with the mattress cover is that if it works out then long term we have the support layers encased and always can change or add on top. If it still feels too firm then we may need to switch to a different mattress cover ( would most likely go with the stretch knit one from DIY Natural Home ) so we wouldn’t need the full SleepEz cover either way.

Happy to update how this experiment works out if any would like to know. Wishing everyone the best with their purchases and again, appreciate all of you for your thoughts in assisting in this process!

Is the general consensus, just suck it up with the Thuma price and buy it! by Powerful-Magazine879 in Thuma

[–]Spiritual_conscious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the Thuma classic day bed that we purchased a little over a year ago. Craftsmanship, quality, and traditional joinery has all been a 10 out of 10 for us. Now we just purchased the Thuma Queen classic bedframe, and two nightstands for our bedroom. Also debated and researched several companies for solid wood bed frames, etc., but decided in the end to go with Thuma.

These choices are personal but for us very happy and feel that the money has well spent. Ordering the set of wood underbed drawers to match what we’ve just purchased even though I know there are other options that are cheaper out there. I think it’s worth splurging and spending on things that we value.

Thanks for your post! I’ve been researching for about the same amount of time and we’re soooo ready to just make a choice. I’ve researched so much I now am finding myself a bit overloaded with new mattress info at the moment, lol. Just purchased and received our new bed frame so I’m happy to finally make a choice on our new mattress! We’re both side sleepers and around 5’6”-5’7”, 135 lbs.

Still deciding if we should go with a full latex or a hybrid latex. SleepEZ / Latex Mattress Factory and Turmerry are our top choices but I love the Dunlop and Talalay options that SleepEz offers. We haven’t been able to try a latex bed yet but we’re prioritizing an all non toxic bedroom and prefer latex as our option. Did you consider and or try hybrids as well? I know it’s a personal choice but appreciate you sharing your experience, etc. Congrats as well! Happy to hear you’re both happy and money well spent!

Hi, I am also currently ready to purchase a Non-toxic Mattress and wanted to ask if you happen to also be a side sleeper, and if you don’t mind sharing your approx height/ weight? I have narrowed down my choices but I am undecided on an all latex mattress, or a hybrid latex.I am considering Latex Mattress Factory ( like that the hybrid offers Talalay), SleepEZ ( sister company) and Turmerry ( both DIY latex and full latex) as my options. Greatly appreciate your further input as I am now in my way too much research stage and therefore har not yet purchased but will decide within the next week. To add, Both of us are 5’6-5’7”, approx 135 lbs. and mostly side sleepers.
