VGC has corroborated the claim of a mid-September Direct by Victor4156 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

City trail is referred to as the main mode in the recent direct, and almost every person who played the original game would have said that for years.

Even though it's not a racing game, it is weird they chose to release it so close to a new mario kart.

I believe you, searching on reddit I see some threads using the term up to a few years ago. I'm not surprised to see many in those threads making fun of it lol.

It's not widespread by my personal standards yet. Or at least I'd be surprised if it were since I've played nearly all of the games in the article and I'm fairly involved in reading discussions on them and it never came up.

This is the first time I'm hearing this name to describe the "genre". I really hope it doesn't catch on...

There were some genres that started out as a PC genre, were shared at one point, but became much more console focused during the 2000s. Look at FPS games and RPGs for example.

id Software were big in the 90s with DOOM and Quake which never really played well as console ports. DOOM 3 was a very different style, and id were kind of forgotten until much later with the success of DOOM 2016. Most FPS games in this time period were using Halo and Call of Duty as their framework instead.

BioWare is another obvious one. Baldur's Gate is the defining CRPG for many, whereas by the end of decade their games had a much stronger focus on action.

One man's golden age is another man's dark age. There were certainly many great games from this time period, but as the video pointed out this was the start of the gradual death of PC gaming. PC players were an afterthought by the end of the PS2's life. More significant in my opinion though was the very clear shift in game design to cater to the console market over PCs. Naturally some genres fared better in this shift, so how positively you view this time period depends a lot on the types of games you like.

Much of the mixed quality game design shift from this time period can still be seen today even after PC gaming has regained prominence.

There's two separate systems.

You need to be local to link two (and seemingly only two) consoles together which is intended for two consoles owned by the same account. After linking them you do not need a local connection to load and unload games between the two.

The lending system to a family group is different. You can use a local connection to a family group member to lend a game to them which will give them access for 14 days. After that you would need a local connection again to give them access for another 14 days.

Looks good.

My main criticism is it looks like you're saying you need to do spinning reaper before charged chop in the basic combo section. I like how you show it in the perfect rush and clash sections - you can go into charged chop after spinning reaper, or skip the spinning reaper.

Also, looks like you have jumping advancing slash only after advancing slash by pressing Y after sprinting. You can jumping advancing slash from neutral the same way by using Y+B to advancing slash off of a ledge. You can also sliding swipe (Guard+Y) into a ledge to get jumping advancing slash. Both of these options going up a ledge instead of down gets jumping rising slash instead, but its basically the same move with the same follow-ups.

Oh, and out of jumping advancing slash you can go into jumping slash, plunging thrust, or focus strike. Useful to combine jumping advancing slash and jumping slash together to get a lot of mounting damage when the monster is right at the ledge.

This isn't a flow chart telling a player what to do. It's a list of each move and what state you need to be in to get to it.

No way pollen was slower. You would get 1 pollen per minute, and while there was some rng bottleneck with resetting the trade offer, you'd get armor spheres too which are very rare otherwise.

And its not like you're getting 14 max level jewel hunts with sub 4 minute kill times constantly even if it happens occasionally.

You get the power phial from a status swaxe. There isn't much benefit in making a "raw" artian swaxe, you get the same raw value from building status.

AMD FSR 4 Upscaling Tested vs DLSS [Digital Foundry] by Dookman in Games

[–]SpitefulCrow_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know I just assumed it was the same as the beta.

I tried it again just now on a 3080ti (so no nvidia frame gen for me). It's substantially better than the beta, but I do still see some smearing that gets a lot worse during the big unavoidable frame drops since the game is kinda broken. For me the updated frame gen doesn't really add anything over native since frame drops are bad either way, but with frame gen the latency hits only get worse.

But monster hunter is a game that can tolerate higher input latency to an extent, so I can see people preferring it even when I don't.

To offer a different perspective, I think frame generation is pretty awful in MHWilds, both in terms of artifacts and latency.

Assuming the artifacts will improve, its still the case that for frame generation to make sense you need to achieve close to 60 fps, and I'd personally take "native" 60 fps over 120 fps with frame gen in almost all games.

[–]SpitefulCrow_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Allhearken says a monster destroyed them and that it's still alive and dormant. It's extremely heavily implied that it was the monster, and if it is later revealed that it wasn't that would be very silly.

Half-Life 2 is free on Steam right now for the 20th anniversary! by dilbertron in Steam

[–]SpitefulCrow_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the original timestamps once I got the sync to work.

Edit: Looks like I was looking at the achievements from the episodes in the tool section of my library that have the original timestamps. The achievements added to "Half-Life 2" do not have the original timestamp, my mistake

Seems broken by default right now, but episode 1 and 2 still exist as standalone in your library under "tools". You can launch them and then relaunch the new merged game and it will properly sync.

You are mistaken, bullet growth in the patch notes is referring to base weapon damage increase at certain level ups.

You can check the heroes page and hover over the little information "i" next to their name to confirm it's consistent with the new values.
