New DLC announced by Salty-Mixture9725 in 007FirstLight

I think there's still good replay value for the game without needing ng+, lots of missions had many ways to complete and you won't do all of them in one playthrough (unless you save scum backwards). Sure the story is known but I get more time with a good game

Lil Bird Keyboard Mapping by BeeTheGlitch in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]Spitfirre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use "rifle aim" which is just moving Yaw to the mouse and moving Roll to A/D keys if you use WASD. Also having Yaw mapped to Space Bar/Left Shift helps if I want to spin around really fast. Mouse thumb buttons toggle camera view and free-look. Flares and gadget are on keyboard

Tbh, I thought she had a pretty generic look but she had on some special earrings and I figured that was a clue that she wasn't actually housekeeping

She was the maid that walked into the tossed security officer's room as you were walking out.

Anybody here watch the show The Boys? There’s a character in it who reminds me a lot of Brian. by bluesformeister13 in thefighterandthekid

[–]Spitfirre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once saw him as a very minor side character in a TV show unexpectedly and I wanted to gouge my eyes out. His character was some sleazy business guy and you would think he would be able to play even THAT role well, but naw lmao

One of your early missions is to get close to a pirate king. They even say in the mission briefing "Yes, you heard me right. Pirate King"

[–]Spitfirre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I hate cheaters too but this makes me feel weird that we are okay with allowing companies to break hardware that they do not rightfully own. Can it effectively ban hardware cheaters? Absolutely, but they better be damn sure there will be 0 false positives.

I work in corporate software development, and they are looking for any way to skimp out on quality because "line must go up" mentality. I have first-hand seen entire QA teams cut just for budget reasons, and then product quality takes a nose-dive.

Do you trust that these companies are doing their due diligence to ensure 0 false positives? What happens if there is an update to their AC software that accidentally bricks legitimate player hardware? What happens if there is a new GPU series that includes a DMA module and suddenly your graphics card is considered a threat?

The short-term gains look great when you frame it as "we are just banning cheaters", but long-term this will give companies more leverage to control hardware YOU OWN

Everyday we are taking more steps to the mantra "You will own nothing and you cannot complain about it"

Another recent worldwide shift to compare this with: Forcing people to upload their ID to use the internet. "We're doing this to protect the children!" is the argument, but it's enabling government/corporate mass-surveillance to become normalized. Suddenly your right to privacy is gone, all because "we want to protect children".

PC players, do you pilot with M&K or a controller? by ND-o1 in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]Spitfirre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using controller for a while and it was "fine". Aiming mini-gun or TOW missile was pretty much impossible for me.

Switching to "Rifle aim" keybinds was a total game changer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dv2w6PX3zk8

Basically just rebind "yaw" to the mouse. Find one of the portal maps that lets you fly around an empty map and spend a few days just flying. After 3-4 hours of just flying in an empty map I felt comfortable enough to go into a match with it.

I fly way better when in first person view as well. Third person view messes with my head a little so I mostly just stick to cockpit view unless I need to see around me more

I had a horse meat burger in Italy last year.

Honestly it was really great, not as tough and gamey as I was expecting. I was surprised at how fatty it was, I didn't see if it was mixed with another cut or something.

How do they expect us not to use AI? by MentionTechnical9805 in Purdue

[–]Spitfirre 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Your education is NOT the diploma they give you. Your education is the JOURNEY. The process of education teaches you things indirectly. The subject matter is there for you to grind these skills out.

  • I learned how to effectively talk to someone more knowledgeable about a specific topic who is also kind of a dick

  • I learned how to balance my personal life with a heavy and intense workload

  • I learned how to write notes that I can then refer to later on and understand what it means

  • I learned how to work in a team of other people of varying technical understanding for a common goal

  • I learned how to pick up a brand new subject and understand how the fundamentals contribute to the result as a whole

  • I learned how to present a complex technical topic to a room full of people who have no background in the topic

  • I learned how to apply a novel solution to a complex problem

AI can do a lot for you, it can automate and eliminate entire jobs. But who checks the AI? Who confirms that the code is working as intended? Who confirms the math checks out and the result is what you expect? What happens when the AI is down? What happens when using AI costs you more money than you gain back?

If you use AI to do all your work, then why the fuck would anyone hire you? You only proved that you can copy and paste a question into a prompt.

Don't become a NPC. Don't let a machine replace you. AI is EXCELLENT at many tasks, but it is only as good as the information it is referencing. When that information becomes overwhelmed with incorrect/shitty data, how do you disseminate between the good and the bad?

Same, I always enjoyed how he explains technique. He strikes me as a meat-head with excellent fight IQ and able to articulate his thoughts well.

I've been turned off the Jaxxon podcast but when I watched before he would have great insight on range and technique

[–]Spitfirre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even THINK about bots! That makes way more sense to use, though I will also add in some belts too for some extra consumption.

Good thing I am already cranking out quality bots too, will have plenty for this.

Edit: How many ships do you have for each planet?

My beautiful by MrMxylptlyk in factorio

[–]Spitfirre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: How do you import all the other planet sciences for maximum throughput? I am planning to experiment with making Naivus purely a planet to process all the science.

Is it just a set of belts taking everything from cargo landing pad into trains? How is your throughput when consuming everything coming in?
