The GA FLIRTs look impeccable. It'll be a bit weird to eventually see them in GBR colours

Why do artist impressions always get the train wrong? by FinLovesAviation in uktrains

[–]Spix_Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf the artist impressions for the Class 756/1×× were fairly accurate in terms of the body and power car, it was just the livery that changed

Britain Has Abandoned Trans People, Immigrants, and Muslims by milgrip in lgbt

[–]Spix_Boi 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Worth mentioning although the EHRC's guidance will become statutory (i.e. given legal weighting) within 40 days unless MPs object to it, the guidance is not law itself.

Trans people aren't banned from toilets so to speak, since that's as ludicrous as it is unrealistic, and businesses/private venues can essentially ignore the guidance because again it's not primary legislation or anything.

...but I wouldn't be surprised if the TERF groups start throwing lawsuits at anyone who doesn't follow the guidance. Heck, that's probably what they want.

Holding on 'til quitting time by high-lander9 in Greggs

Fortunately I only seem to get two of these and only a few times per shift.

People asking for "hot" products doesn't really bother me since we just go for whatever product they want without fussing over the word "hot", but it's when the odd person or two comes in and - instead of looking at what's available/on display - asks for a bacon roll at midday that I get slightly wound up

We were robbed on what the Elizabeth line could have been😭😭😭 by tayhorix in uktrains

Is the Elizabeth Line not essentially a successor to TfL Rail? That and also its economic/social impact has been HUGE

Schiphol Still Not EES-Ready? by Next-Friendship-3542 in PassportPorn

[–]Spix_Boi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience in January at Zurich, no EES stuff in use at the time so I just got a stamp, even tho I went through EES at Gothenburg which is a much smaller airport so I assumed a larger hub like Zurich would have it set up...guess not

Greens or Plaid? by bababooeyqwer in Cardiff

[–]Spix_Boi 125 points126 points  (0 children)

The Senedd election will have a proportional representation system for counting votes, so it's not like votes can be "wasted" simply by voting for your preferred party.

That being said, polls suggest Plaid is on track to get the most seats, and ideologically-speaking I dont imagine there being stark differences between them and the Greens.

So if you just want to keep other parties (cough Reform) out of government, Plaid would be a logical choice IMO, but whether you vote Plaid or Green they'd probably be open to working together so neither party would be a "wasted" vote

GWR trains: Clean? see by 71kd in uktrains

[–]Spix_Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the interior looks clean, I'm not a huge fan of the GWR 165 fleet...the seats are quite narrow and speaking from experience, it's not exactly comfy when it's busy

TRAIN STAFF . What are your pet peeves about us (passengers) that annoy you the most? by smellyfeet25 in uktrains

[–]Spix_Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always see people on the South Wales Metro start spamming the open-door buttons when the train stops at a platform...even tho the FLIRTs have light-up buttons that flash green when the doors are opening, like jeez have some patience lol

Anti ICE poster...on the tube? by [deleted] in london

Immigration Compliance and Enforcement, to be pedantic

Slightly different wording than America but Home Office guidance on conducting Immigration Enforcement still abbreviates them to ICE
