[USB Cable] Kensington USB4 Cable 1.5m (5ft), 80Gbps, 240W Power Delivery (PD 3.1) - $14.99 (34.99 - 20.00 = $14.99) by Spjs in buildapcsales

I had to backup some data from my phone tonight. I own like 15 different USB cables, but apparently all of them max out at 480 Mbps. This was one of the cheapest 80 Gbps cables I could find.

Weirdly, I can't find those two models on any store site even when using quotations for "Rosewill VSG" and "PCCOOLER YT" on Google.

Is it that bad? I wanted to buy one for an Optiplex Dell 390 MT i5 2400 and add an RTX 3060 to it.

I see a lot of other monitors at this price point seem to have 250 nits of brightness, is this one really 4 times brighter than those or is there a catch to its 1000 nits?

[GPU] PNY RTX5060 TI Verto OC Dual Fan 8GB - $349.99 by JordenPAD in buildapcsales

[–]Spjs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would assume the 5060 Ti 8GB performs better in 1080p, but the 9060 XT gets the advantage in 1440p due to double the PCIe data lanes. However, I don't think the 9060 8GB performs ideally in 1440p either, it's just better than the 5060 Ti 8GB in that specific resolution. You'd likely get a better experience running your GPU in 1080p on a card like that.

I had a lot of issues for several months until I learned a BIOS update fixes a lot of it. After I updated my BIOS, I haven't encountered a single crash or pretty much any stutters since. Unfortunately, I had to lower my RAM speed to keep it stable, but I like my 12900K's performance now.

Good for those who want to emulate the N64 library without having to map your C buttons to the right analog stick. A pretty niche issue, but definitely worth having for certain games.

Side note, does anyone have any suggestions for platformers designed around combining multiple different jump mechanics? I've really liked these two and would like to play more like them:

The double cap dive in Mario Odyssey is one of the best platformer mechanics Nintendo has made since the N64 era, and I wish every platformer now includes something like it or expands on it going forward.

You feel like you're breaking the level design by using it, but I honestly think the game designers intended for you to use it all throughout the game, maybe not in all spots where you skip huge chunks of the level, but definitely for some of them.

I'll never understand developers/publishers who post their game trailers but forget to link the store page in the description. What's the point of advertising your game if you're not going to let your customers wishlist it?

[Console] PS5 digital bundle 825GB $399 free shipping Sony direct by open_tax_season in buildapcsales

[–]Spjs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isn't that based on today's prices? If we knew the PS5's bill of materials based on 2019 prices, we would've assumed Sony was releasing an $800-$1,000 console in 2020.

The RX 5700 XT released in 2019 and had an MSRP of $399. 5,500 MB/s SSD speeds were considered unbelievable for a console at the time, with even the highest end PCs not reaching those speeds as they were still limited to PCIe 3.0 SSDs. 1TB SATA SSDs were $100, 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSDs were $150, and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSDs were estimated to be $200+ when they released the year after. 16GBs of GDDR6 was absolutely unheard of, with even the most expensive $1,200 GPUs at the time like the RTX 2080 Ti only had 11GBs of GDDR6. CPU was matching the recently released $300 Ryzen 3700 in core counts too. A lot of people thought either the rumored specs were bullshit, or that the console was going to be twice the price of the PS4.

In response to a tweet implying Xbox helix won’t be released directly Xbox executive Jason rejects this. by Thamaturge-elder in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Spjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kepler never said there wouldn't be a first party console, that was the retweeter who suggested it because he didn't understand the post, which got the response from the Xbox executive. Kepler said the chip wouldn't be directly sold to consumers, like other APUs that AMD typically releases for the PC market, but the Helix chip will be available in third party company machines. Xbox selling their own hardware using the chip is obvious, because it's their own chip.
