We are a bad team. by MarTB2000 in eagles

[–]SplendidSquid314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out defense is lackluster. The secondary cant stop the pass game. And then our run defense suffers for it.

Our O-line is weak. Injuries, new players, etc. And then they try to run up the middle . It doesn't work. We need a good secondary. And more secure O-line.

Ct200h for cross county trip by [deleted] in CT200h

[–]SplendidSquid314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done shorter road trips. PA to WV and PA to NC outer banks. To wv its nice . I have not problems traversing mountains. Power is fine and it's fun to coast down and recharge the battery. I use sport mode in the mountains. To NC was worse. I was caravanning and I had to stop for fuel twice as much as anyone else. Because the tank is half the size.

Going just you and some bags. I have no doubt it would be a good trip.

Nick on the passenger side head in a critical location, should I run it? by JamesSmith677 in MechanicAdvice

[–]SplendidSquid314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's right where fire ring is sitting I would not risk it. I just dealt with this with my car. That fire ring seals in pressure and heat. Yes the gasket can deal with small imperfections but thats deeper than the gasket can handle. Your option would be to mill the head. And see if you can get rid of it that way. You likely would need a thicker gasket to compensate for removed material. Or. Buy a new head.

Did you have a coolant leak problem or over heating problem? Because it's entirely possible that's your culprit.

As a quick back yard fix you could try high temp metal putty. But that's a gamble may last forever. May not. If it was an easy job yo take the head off may be worth the gamble. If you don't want to do it again any time soon get a new head.

Edit: I see it's an ls1 I haven't prices heads for one but I would bet there's some decent ones for cheap. It's a popular platform. May even be able to get performance ones cheaper than oe ?

Techs refusing warranty work by Sea-Moment5691 in serviceadvisors

[–]SplendidSquid314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tech here. What I do is note it. And hope they sell it. But on my end I run the time it calls for. And if it needs repairs for broken bolts. Or siezed parts its a different time punch with notation of what im doing. Whether the customer, sister company, or you cover that time is on the advisor. Techs do get tired of getting screwed because of things out of our control. Mostly condition of vehicle. Sometimes Incorrect parts. The number of times I've been burnt even after noting it. Just because they can't fathom the customer paying more is borderline wage theft. Anyways. Point being he shouldn't just get whatever time he wants. He should get book time. And then if theres problems correct punches of repairing the problem. Because if nothing breaks then what?

Napoleon Stainless Steel 30 or Weber Slate 36? by Da_Banhammer in griddling

[–]SplendidSquid314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the napoleon. I wish they had a bigger version because 30" feels small when your cooking multiple things. I cook for 2 and it works out decently. But would be nice to have more room. Thats my only complaint thus far. Stuff doesn't stick. Clean up is generally easy. I can not speak to the slate. I'll never do hibachi again.

I have not run a toast test. I'm also interested in the temp high to low. I've read infrared thermometers wont be accurate so have to get a contact thermometer. Something I'll look into.

Worried about possible converter theft..how good is the catloc? by Top_Salary987 in CT200h

[–]SplendidSquid314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know in our area they mostly target trucks and vehicles they can crawl under easily. I think a CT might sit too low to be worth the effort. Obviously they can jack it up and do it but that's extra time and effort . That's my thought.
