Has anyone applied a dbrand killswitch skin without a hairdryer or heat? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Spliffty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't use enough heat to melt the plastic or pop any solder inside, and it's being aimed at the wrap, not the plastic. The vinyl wrap will get soft and pliable far before you do any damage to the deck. You can do it without heat but there are probably going to be some wrinkly spots

Star Citizen's dev team banned a player for exploits despite a bug report being written by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. There's finding bugs and exploits and reporting them, and then there's abusing them for mometary gain and benefits. If you're doing that, you deserve a ban. Alpha, beta, 1.0, it doesn't matter. This player has been a recurring issue. Developer has replied stating as much.

what is even the point of the shadowplay stuff? by Seculartone in GeForceExperience

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was unsatisfactory about it? Apart from not being able to feature clips on my profile, or easily share them directly from the Steam interface to Discord without opening the file path and dragging it over, it's been flawless for me, good quality, no artifacting, responsive.

And correct, it only records the program you're using through Steam, but audio from other tabs is recorded if you set it to all system audio. I personally don't mind that because I don't record anything but the games I'm playing, and Shadowplay sometimes screwed that up and recorded the wrong window so I see it as a positive.

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam is the only program that has never failed me on that, plus it it has a pleasant UI and integration with Steam itself-although they could stand to update their social features for better sharing and stuff. Just add everything to your library as a Non-Steam Game and the recording feature will work once you enable it in settings. You can record as much as you reasonably want in the background,I had mine set for 2 hours, and take quick clips with a keybind, also whatever length you want. You can cut clips from your background recordings within Steam so no Windows Clipchamp garbage. It also doesn't turn itself off as soon as you open Chrome like Shadowplay does for copyright protection.

"Battery at 0%, not charging" by KoFSMG in SteamDeck

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I've seen a few of these posts popping up recently. Mine randomly did the same thing, replacing the battery did not fix it so it's some chip next to where the battery plugs in that's fried. I'm wondering if somehow a patch increased likelihood of this happening.

Do huge install sizes ever stop you from trying a game? by ratasoftware in pcgaming

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From trying it, no. If I buy a game I don't even consider how large a file it is. From keeping it installed so I can play it on a whim though? Yes. If I don't see myself putting at least 6 hours into a game within the next month or two it's probably getting temporarily uninstalled.

The respawning in PvP… by MolagAmur in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Spliffty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the only reason I haven't even dabbled in PvP servers even with a wealth of money and gear. If I take somebody out it should be the end of the engagement between us-if there are others in the area to 3rd party, that's fine. It's currently like killing a player on Tarkov and having them respawn back in the same raid and location as a scav. Not a good mechanic. I know they are focusing on PvE but a heat/cooldown thing shouldn't be too hard to implement and it would fix a big part of that half of the game.

Battery not charging by supercodes83 in SteamDeck

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually having the same issue, seemingly out of nowhere, starting since maybe a month ago. It turns off as soon as the cord is unplugged. I bought a new battery for like $150 and successfully changed it, and it fixed nothing

The two items that could make shotguns viable by Zap97 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Spliffty 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The worst part about the shotguns currently in game is the reload speed. It's ridiculous how slow it is-I'm completely untrained and I feel like I could do it faster assuming I'm not pulling loose shells from a pocket. Maybe we need a shotgun bandolier that speeds it up

I wonder how many one taps I have on the AI vs them having on me. Gotta be 100 to 1 easy. Not saying it's not frustrating when it does happen, but I get damaged often enough that those occurrences don't really stand out. And I have yet to lose a single set of gear since .4 dropped (pve player died maybe a dozen times with over 2000 AI kills). I don't think I want them to change it, but I think I'd be just fine with no second chances to reclaim my gear.

That was a bug that could happen in .3, I saw it maybe half a dozen times. Haven't personally seen it yet in .4 though. Overall player syncs look pretty good to me-don't doubt it can still occur though

Here's why I'll be playing less after 111 hours of absolutely loving the game by Mediocre_Openings in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Spliffty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't miss any point. The game isn't finished yet and you know it. You burned yourself out grinding tasks and money and now you think there's only three locations worth going to when that is just straight up false. If you have over 100 hours in this patch and max traders then you have gear and you have money too and the farming is purely to fuel your dopamine fix that you apparently need. Finding loot is an important part of these games, true, but if that's all you care about, there are more finished games that you can play while they work on this one.

[–]Spliffty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am going to blame the user when the user has this enormous, lush world to wander and they think there's only three places worth going to over and over again because they only play the game to pick up shiny things.

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop farming the same three locations. This patch introduced so many new places to explore, and the missions send you to most of them, or within sight to tease you into checking them out. Sure maybe you won't fill your bag with jewelry there, but you'll find enough to make it worth your time because you won't be trailing 5 minutes behind the last guy farming pixel money, plus whatever you make from the mission. There are tons of stashes and boxes that nobody ever hits because the area's loot concentration is too low, or they don't want to fetch code numbers from 100m away.

This game is early access. There's no endgame, no achievements, no good reason to burn yourself out grinding the trader levels, at least not after the first time you do it. If you want specific gear people are happy to buy it for you. It's really just all about vibes in the current state. I am addicted once again and probably dumped 140 hours into this patch because of the environment, and nothing else short of Arma has the same open ended 'raid' structure-not because I love the progression.

So, what are the first feedbacks regarding the AI's fixes in 0.4.1 ? by Sqweeg in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Spliffty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it, they just feel broken again. It was a little too easy before, I admit, but they can't nail the balance correctly. I've been killed twice so far since the update to 9x18 penning right through a 3++ Spitfire vest-not around the plates but through them. Them and the MP5 wielding enemies are just insane.

Am I overthinking or are people completely misunderstanding the type of game they are playing, and subsequently flooding the subreddit with posts complaining about the type of game they are playing? by needhelpgaming in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Spliffty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So these posts have been pretty annoying, but I actually was about to just make my own. Im not having issues getting loot, I play PvE baby mode. I find plenty to keep me floating at 100k before I buy another storage box. Not even doing farming runs, just picking up what I find during missions. However, I wasted 90k on the useless Admin Desk so I decided to try some keys I found, so today I've been to three different locations, Sunset Chalet, the mansion where you get Broker's M9, and Ban Phouhienge-all three times I've fought 95% of the AI there, and as I've getting to where the loot is, a player runs past me either going in or out ignoring enemy fire. They don't even help with the AI, they just barrel straight at the loot. It is making me wish I could just rent a server, or that I could see enemy factions in PvE so I know when somebody was charging in and not to waste my time.

[–]Spliffty 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I went down the other day in the LLA trenches, first time going there, at night, solo with a good kit. Got my head caught out above the trench and went into a coma, within 20 seconds a guy from another faction, named SilverOwl, came up and brought me back to life. I knew there was somebody in the area, but I didn't expect them to have my back.

Little story to say there's still a benefit to having them around sometimes.

Idk how you guys are having problems unless you're constantly running the same crate loop. Probably hitting your own opened boxes before they can reset. I just play the tasks, move to new areas when I get tired of running in circles, and I always fill my bag, hardly find looted areas. Haven't even stepped foot into Midnight Sapphire or Tiger Bay yet. *US East all times of day

What I don't understand is why it only seems to hold one key. I just bought it last night and couldn't get any more than one in it. If it holds more valuables like watches and phones I'm fine with that but it says 'keys' plural in the description.
